i had a gut feeling that this would work, and sure enough it did!
i bought a RPM bumper for a rustler, to put on my tornado. you dont have to drill any holes or do any modding!
just remove the stock bumper(which is a joke on the tornado) and re-use to of the screws to attach the RPM bumper. the holes in the bumper line up perfectly with the stock chassis holes!
in mine, i used some different screws, but the stock ones will work(may need a washer on them tho)

since you dont have to mod the RPM bumper, you get the RPM replacement warrenty intact!

sure, it takes alittle away from the buggy look. but i care more about "bashability" than looks. RPM part are super strong, and since it sticks out a ways and is wider, it will protect the a-arms as well.

Doesnt take away from it in my opinionand by protecting the suspension from those hard head on impacts it will keep you playing longer without repair..........that what I call a win win situation...!

How much does that front bumper cost?

They are cheap like $5 to $7 bucks depending on where you get it from!!!! I'mgonna try some of the parts off my Stampede VXL on my caldera 10E to see if any fit!!!

$8 shipped on ebay. cant go wrong for that price. and RPM really does have a replacement plan. if you crack on of these, send it to rpm and they will mail a replacement for free. i managed to break a RPM wheel hub(it was very cold out and i hit a steel pole!) i sent the part to RPM and they mailed me a new one.
i just loved the fact that the bolt holes lined up perfectly!
i like my redcats, but it is sad that there isnt much aftermarket support for them. i love RPM parts, i had them on other RC's i have owned. they make any rc stronger.

tomorrow im gonna see if the same rpm bumper will fit on the volcano. i know that the chassis has the same bolt holes as the tornado, but im not sure if the larger wheels of the volcano will hit the bumper. but i will put it on and post pics tomorrow.

i hope to find some replacement suspension pins as well. i dont care much for "e" clips. i like how the suspension pins on a traxxas are, with one end that screws into the plastic. just gotta find some that are the right size.

i originally had modded a emaxx skid plate as a bumper. but it couldnt take the abuse i put my tornado through! im sure that the rpm bumper will hold up better.

I have an aftershock 3.5 that I am trying to find a good rpm bumper for. I wonder ifI call rpm they would be able to help me out.

unfortunately i dont own a 3.5 model to test parts on[&o]
there are many bumpers for 1/10 short course trucks, but im not sure how they would work on a 1/8 SCT like the aftershock.
you could try contacting t-bone racing. they make a large selection of bumpers(high grade stuff to)
i know those guys to testing on models, and they may have a redcat to test with. even if they dont, you could give them the dimensions of the mounting holes on the aftershock, and they may have something that will bolt up.

i would be willing to bet that you could make it fit. with the tornado, the holes just happen to line up nicely with the ones on the chassis. for the backdraft, you might have to drill your own holes in the bumper to bolt it upto the backdraft.

if you post a pic of the underside of the backdraft where the stock bumper mounts and measure the distance of the screws that hold the bumper on i might be able to give you a better idea!

Hmm.... My favorite local hobby shop has these in stock and they should also have a BLUE one!!! Part # 81165. Should look good with my shiny new blue body. I know where I'm going on my way home from work....

awsome. my body has the flames so i didnt go for the blue bumper. should look nice with the blue flamed body. please post a pic in my thread when you get it done!

New shocks, New body, New bumper... It's like a whole new car! Can't wait till the weekend or a slow day at work to get out and drive it!!!
With the bumper, I just used the stock screws and screwed it into the stock bumper. Figured that wuld give a little protection for the diff. Just in case.

i like the stock bumper left there with the RPM sticker on it. before i put my rpm bumper on, my stock one broke so i was not able to do that. looks nice and clean that way!

woops, my bad.
it looks like he just used a longer screw that would fit in the stock shock tower hole, plus a couple of nuts. one to hold the screw in, and one for spacing the shock body away from the tower. probly all bits you can find at a hardware store.

Nitro is correct on both accounts. I screwed the stock screws thru the RPM bumper, then the metal, then into the stock bumper.
And with the shocks, It was a long bolt, 2 nuts and some washers. I couldn't find stock diameter bolts, so I had to drill the holes a little larger.
Bolt thru shock, nut on the back and then a washer for a little more space. Then thru the shock tower with a nut on the back to hold it there.
Doesn't look as nice as it could, but it works as expected and the shocks are so nice. The stock ones were really bouncy, and these just suck up
impact. I can drop the car from a foot off the ground (which was not a good idea on stock) and the bottom plate will not even touch the ground.

Right on!

I know they are some really sweet shocks and actually work really well compared to the stock ones, Simply just by absorbing the impacts very well and rarely bottoming out .
