Default Nelson Hobby

Anyone know what happened to Nelson Hobby?
I ordered from Jerry last summer, he was out of the miniature hinges I needed, so I back ordered them.
I'm a patient guy so I waited to contact him, when I tried his web site, it's not up and when I called his phone was not working.

Anyone know where I can obtain miniature hinges, my Scale Super Cub is on hold for the hinges.

From http://www.nelsonhobby.com/index.html on January 14

January 13, 2011

We are not taking any new orders at this time.

I have closed down Nelson Aircraft, Nelson Hobby Specialties, and Nelson Hobby Direct. Typical slow summer sales have consumed the limit of my financial reserves. Slow summer sales were expected, but not to the extent that I predicted. Financially it is not possible for me to continue operating my business under the conditions that I am experiencing.

Our on-line shopping cart is not active at this time

Thanks for the heads up.
The economy and health are major problems these days. I wish him the best.

I know what happened to Nelson Hobby. About 30 days after the last post I called Jerry and asked him if he had sold the business and he had not so I bought it. Alive and well after a year and a little help from the AMA Magazine things are going along well. As I told a customer with a paint problem this morning I am more into this business to keep the paint and other items alive and helping folks build quality models than anything else. Having said that a few more orders wouldn't hurt my feeling at all.

Here is Nelson Hobbies new Aeronca C3

I'll vouch for Nelson Hobby. I've placed 4 orders in the last 12 months for paint and hinges. If you're covering with fabric, their paint gives outstanding results using a simple foam brush. John is a nice guy, always patient with my questions. Shipping is a little high, but that's how it goes

Bottom line, if you're going to paint a fabric-covered airplane... give Nelson a try.

I have been looking for Nelson Hobby to find hardware they used to sell. Found the website, but it dosen't work. It appears there is only paint and some other non essential items shown. It's too bad because his hardware line was good stuff. Stinkin china arfys have taken over and all the good stuff has dissapeared..............

Well, in particular, I wanted some more of the pull-pull kits for rudder hook ups. Nelson also had the Rocket City stuff and I want to find more of the oval head 1/4 X 20 wing bolts with the captive slots. Nothing else compares to this stuff. Got any??
