RE: Not for sale
A friend of mine had a few of these. designed for a .40 it was a screamer. It was a construction article in May 1993 Model Airplane News. Plans should still be available thru them if anyone needs a set. Todays .46-.55 AX would yield a very capable 3Der. It definately had the control surfaces.

What is the average cost of the kits and I'd be interested if somebody has one they cracked up and would rather pitch it than fix it. Joe (JL636)

RE: Not for sale
It looks like the plns are on sale (assuming this URL is current)... http://www.airagestore.com/plans/rc-...otforsale.html ...about $11
I've built the NotForSale before and, personally, I'd just build from the plans. There are really only two precut parts in the kit: the cheeks and the wing ribs. (I assume you'd stack similar parts and cut them all at once.) The rest is all cut from sticks by you as you build it, anyway, so the kit doesn't save you much effort.
Either way, it's a great little airplane enjoy!

RE: Not for sale
No. Its built up. I used 3/8" square stock and I always include a 3/8" carbon fiber or fiberglass shaft in my profiles usually from above the wing back to the tailfeathers. I've broken too many fuses just behind the wing. I used 1/16" x 4" edge glued balsa for the sides and will add a 1/16" ply doubler from the nose back to about mid wing chord. All the pieces surrounding the engine mount and where the landing gear will go are poplar (because that's what I had on hand)

RE: Not for sale
if you build another maybe you could take some pics of the fuse being built.
great idea with the profile version.
Anyone know how much/thepercent would be to blow up the planes to come out with a 90/120 size NFS

RE: Not for sale
I have access to a Scanner and Plotter at work and I can make it any size my little heart desires. I don't have a CAD program so I actually drew the Profile in PowerPoint after taking the measurements from the plan I bought. Once it was drawn to 1/4" to 1" scale. all I had to do was print to 8 1/2 x 11, program the plotter to 400% and there you a have full size plan

RE: Not for sale
Still flying my original NFS I built in when first published in MAN. A great design and great flying airplane. It is my fun fly weapon of choice. I didn't think anyone would still be building and flying them. Glad to hear people still are.
This plane can fly very slowly and surfaces are still very effective. While not a 3D ship like the profiles available it is a very capable aircraft.
Over the years I have made some modifications. Mine would not knife edge really at all. I made the rudder larger and that did not help. Changed the rudder back to original specs. Then I cut the top of fuse down to be parallel to the bottom of the fuse. The flat fuse top extends past the leading edge of the wing. I added a vertical fin so the rudder could be hinged. This was a huge improvement for knife edge. Then a couple years later I added two fixed front mounted rudders. One on the fuse top and bottom. This now allows for even better good knife edge.
Of course now I suppose it is really not a Not For Sale any more. It sure does not look like one!
I plan to fly this plane for my entire RC career! If I crack it up I bet I could easily have one framed up in a couple of days work. The only curved parts are the ribs!

if is has red and white strips on the bottom of the wing and the LE of the bottom is blue with white stars, than that was mine, back a long time ago

RE: Not for sale
That sounds like it but that one . Was it a .25 size? I bought it in a hobby shop in Jackson Tn years ago. It stayed in storage for ever. I just recently through it away. It had way to much storage rash on it. Seemed a little heavy to start with. I purchased the plans for the 40 size. I want to go ahead and knock this one out. Im ready fo fly it. cant wait for the plans to come in so I can start!

RE: Not for sale
Finally came across some plans for sale on Ebay. Finding them really made my day! Does anyone have a list of "sizes" I'll need? Would help alot when I go to my friendly LHS to buy balsa and light ply. Joe
