i have had both and sold my big swamp buggy and kept the SI 3

you can run grass/snow with the BSB as it has air rudders

SI 3 is a lot less work to build than BSB

It kind of depends on what you want from your boat.

I've never built a BSB but I've seen quite a few and driven one. They seem to be tricky but fun to drive. A .61 or so is probably the biggest motor I've seen on one. I have heard the build instructions and some of the less important parts in the kits leave something to be desired.

I have one SI. It's very fast and a lot of fun to drive, but I do flip it occasionally (as with ALL of my boats). It was well documented and simple to build.

I would think so. You could PM Chris, the guy that designed/sells the kits. He seems like a good guy that might work with ya on something custom, I'd bet. Here on RCU he's "Selph Inflicted"

A good air rudder setup is said to be nearly as effective as a wet rudder on water if the guy driving knows what he's doing.

Mrloganstp,

On the SI3, on water, air rudders will not have enough force to turn the boat once its on plane. It will turn it at low speeds but the faster you go, the less efficient it becomes.

I have seen an individual with air rudders running on snow. It did very well.

Water rudder for water running; air rudders will work out of water.

Give me your postal code and I will get you a shipping quote. Due to respect for RCU's forum policy, any business inquiry should be made by emailing me.

I have a BSB with a .40 fast enough on snow/ice, not enough motor for water. The .61 ought to get it going pretty good.
