Default 1/10 4wd buggy value. Is there one?

Looking to get into tenth scale, looking for a buggy that has great features, great durability, and a great price. I haven't looked at any 1/10's yet, but was wondering if you could point that car out.

I currently run vendettas, brushless. Just to give you an idea.

That thing is not even worth what it costs to ship it IMO (I am the sorry owner of one). Sucker also has almost 0 aftermarket support. There is an aluminum driveshaft set, and umm... errr... that is it.
Chassis made out of cheap quality plastic, and will break from light stock usage. Diff, and axel cups are cheaply made, and break from stock power. Stock it has a 35t motor, and hits a whopping 11mph tops... Honestly I doubt it got that fast seeing I was able to out walk it... It goes so slow the tires don't even need to be glued.

Tamiya DF-02 (Plasma Edge/Rising Storm/Gravel Hound) is damn nice, has a quite a few upgrades, and can be modified into other things pretty easily. I own 2 one is set up as a Stadium truck, other is set up as a brushless buggy

Tamiya DF-03 Don't own one but heard its diffs are semi problematic. It was also Discontinued I heard.

Would love to see it turn at that speed
Also would love a follow up video of them trying to locate its parts after a turn at that speed

turning 10th scale cars at 50+ is always an adventure.

I would have preffered to see ailerons and a rudder pop out of it

i would also reccomend to get the thunder tigerr sparrowhawk xb/xxb/Its aa good car and really durable. But also i like the df-02 and with a few hopups it can be near indestructable, the plastics are soft/thick/malleable and i have never broken anything apart from the front shock tower and the arm mounts, (which all have mods to make them super durable)

tamiya's have huge amounts of part support. Especially df-02 or df-03 models.

Sparrowhawk is made by thundertiger who owns Associated. Sell them at tower hobbies but your local hobby shop should be able to order for you.

The Cyber is a very good buggy. Looks like HPI discontinued it though.

I have a Sparrowhawk XB. So for the only weak spot is the front differential housing. I really like it so far but really haven't been able to test it out due to the snow.

Its pretty bullit proof I have only had to replace items that were my mistake.. Like running into a dumpster at top speed.. Or jumping it into a ginormous puddle..

good cheap basher is the df 02, gear diffs, lots of option parts and you can get the factory parts real cheap.

The sparrowhawk is good but no aftermarket and thus far very poor parts support, these things are good and bordering on great IMO.

the caster sk 10 should be another one you look at, they share parts with the nearly all aluminum sniper and the carbon fibre laden ultimate 10, being able to mix and match plastic, carbon fibre and aluminum as I see fit really appeals to me, I have yet to see the ultimate but the sniper I saw was awesome. Castor actually cars about its customers, they have allready came out with customer requested option parts and a made production changes for problems found, just like an rc company should. Next time I can't resist the urge to buy a kit the sniper will probably be it.

How about a Losi Ten-T? I know it's not a buggy, but can easily be made into one. Here is what mine looks like after the conversion: http://scriptasylum.com/bl_conversions/ten_t.html

Thanks for the great info, I'm researching those options, any more??

Aftermarket support is imperative, as I usually keep mine 5 years or better.

How does that look like a buggy?
IMO even if you slap a buggy shell on it the arms are still too long to be a buggy.

I know it isn't a buggy, it was just a (bad?) suggestion. The OP is free to take it or leave it.

The caster looks good, but what's a sniper, and what's an ultimate 10??

Anyone like the rc10 b44.1?

Default RE: 1/10 4wd buggy value. Is there one?

they are the big $ version of the sk 10 caster
I use this guy, not the other casterracing, two US importers aparently
http://casterracingusa.com/home.php?cat=61
the sniper is lots of aluminum sweet looking machine, I hold tamiya high end kits up pretty high but agree xray is nicer, so is this caster, on an xray level IMO on sale for $329.95
the ultimate 10 is carbon fibre version by Dizzy digital or something like that, pictures look uber nice, $580 is off the grid for me, I'd buy another king motors baja first but a 4wd 10th racer might want it.
I have softened on my hatred of saddle packs as they have got alot cheaper but I would probably try and make my sniper single battery if I could.

the b44 is a good racer but not cheap, I don't know if anyone is doing better than the $230 amain wants for the plain one, the factory team kits are even more
IMO its to fragile for the average guy wanting to play, parts cost quite a bit to if you break the wrong one, $3 bulkheads ain't bad but if you take out the upper deck with it thats $20 more, a bigger crash that took out the bulkhead, upper deck plate and shock tower would be a $45 break, the last lipo chassis I bought $50 and the LHS guy acted like I was punking him over it at that price.

That Caster looks very nice

If you are wanting a pure race breed buggy get a Tamiya 511or 502x. The Kyosho Lazer Zx-5 is another top of the line racer kit.
