ezrun 80amp ESC, twin 2s lipos for a total of 4s lipo power! 4wd, insane torque.
the included charger isnt that great. takes along time to charge. so its best if you have your own lipo charger to use.
45mph. maybe 50 with higher grade lipos.
redcat has a bunch of alloy upgrade parts.
some have found that the diffs need to be shimmed. and maybe some grease added to the diff housing. other than that its a good truck.
i am buying one tomorrow

The Earthquake (8e) when it first came out (me) ordered in Dec 09 had some issues with the diffs which I have posted about on RCU with vids on the fixes I love my Redcat and some of my buddies have them also and have had no problems. so I say get it for the Price. also I have not done any upgrades except a programmer and more batteries.

i got mine today, it looks awesome. i put the wheelie bar on it, it was pretty easy. the wheelie bar is a hop up i bought separately. as soon as i look it over and charge the batteries i will take it for a spin and let you know how she runs.

RE: Earthquake 8E 1/8 Scale Brushless Electric Monster Truck
so i brought the truck out today, 5 minutes into it it flipped over after a too fast turn (much less violent than what i've seen on youtube, not that bad actually....). after that happened, the truck did not run right. sounded like something was grinding badly in the drivetrain. i stopped running it as to not cause further damage. if i pick it up off the ground and hit the throttle, it grinded a bit, now only the rear tires spin when i hit the throttle (they seem to be spinning normally, very fast.....). seems like something happened to the front differentials or gears or something?? i don't know. i will call redcat tomorrow. anyone have any idea what might have happened? i am not really experienced enough yet to take it apart to try and diagnose the problem.
not a good start to say the least..........

RE: Earthquake 8E 1/8 Scale Brushless Electric Monster Truck
more clues:
i just checked and the front driveshaft is spinning when i hit the throttle. therefore the problem must be up in the front diff (or whatever you call those gears between the front shocks.....).
another funny thing is that when the rear tires spin and try to propel the truck forward, the front wheels won't rotate in the same direction as each other. they will only rotate in opposing directions (unless i grab them and force them to......). therefore the rear tires push the truck forward but the front tires just skid along. i don't think this is normal but i don't know.

Pop open your front diff and check the pinion...a roll should not have messed it up that quick..... did you check the grub screw on the DS connecting to the center diff ????????if that is loose it will spin also.........

Before you open the diff check the grub screw on the shaft first.

which is the grub screw? is it on the front of the front shaft or the back end near the main gears?

It holds the input part of the shaft on the center diff pic of the out drive shaft : http://www.redcatracing.com/s.nl/it.A/id.2236/.f
it connects in this : http://www.redcatracing.com/RC-Cars/...arts/BS808-004 you can see where it slips on top left of pic that is what I would check first.

RE: Earthquake 8E 1/8 Scale Brushless Electric Monster Truck
so i opened up the front diff case and the smaller gear, the one that connects to the front shaft was broken in half...... think that is the problem? ha! what a pain. now i have to wait for redcat to send me new parts (i got them to send it 2-day to the tune of $27 out of pocket....).
when i spoke to redcat they told me they were going to send me the entire front diff unit including the case and everything. so like a bonehead i removed the entire fromt diff case out of my truck which meant i had to take apart the entire front end. god only knows if i will be able to put it back together. do you know if there are any vids or directions on how to reassemanle the entire front end? most of the vids i see just incliude the taking off of the top part of the diff case to access the gears.
good times, good times. somthing tells me i may need a trip to my LHS to fix this beast.

Most of the vids on the diffs are mine I would put the bottom of the case back togther and just put the top part and th gears back in when it gets to you. Redcat did'nt offer you a discount cause you just got it..... It is easy to get back togther is intemidating at first just take you time.... the manual should help.

RE: Earthquake 8E 1/8 Scale Brushless Electric Monster Truck
fortunately the only real carnage is a gear split in 2. not that dramatic. of course it set me back a week and god only knows if i will ever get this front end back together!!!!!!!!!!!!! why i took the whole thing apart i will never know.
