Hi Dave,

Hi All,
OK back to the 190.
Been adding detail around the wind shield, some de-misters!!,then I have had to re mould the canopy frame as the original was to big all round, also added the canopy shrink hinge on top of the canopy frame,I'm not going to do as the full size,I'm Going to cheat and use a small runner, this gets fixed in the centre of the support frame, once fixed you can slide the canopy open to 9 "!!! this then gives me room to mount my switches just behind the Seat.
So the fusolage allterations are now done, so I have started to layer up the base silver paint, this is left to harden off for a week or so, looks good in silver, hummmmmmmmm!!!!

Cheers GB

Hi Dave,

You would be more than welcome to come over to our wet Island!!!!,this is why we get so much building done!!!

Ok Back on the Wulf, decided to make the most of the spiller vents on the side of the wulf as I need as much cooling as possible.
What I have done is cut a half moon shape out of scale exhaust wall, then added a duct running on the inside to the spiller vents, sound allot of work but it was done fairly quickly, and should help with some of the cooling.
Dave they look like the splitter plates on the F18.

Cheers GB

Default RE: Refurb on my Airworld FW190.

Hello Graham and all Butcher Bird friends...greetings from BRASIL.
I am new to this thread but not new to RCU. I am on most Super Decathlon threads around here, and have set up my own Super Decathlon website at www.marcusmodelfactory.com
Although I concentrated on Super Dekes since 2006, I got sidetracked a little now when I accepted to finish the Motor, RC and Retracting Undercarriage on this AW FW 190 kit.

This one was actually painted and weathered by Bernd Neumayr in Germany, as well as his drop tank and many other scale details were added for a friend on mine in Germany who then sold it unfinished to another friend here in BR and I took the job to do the rest. Huh, I have some experiences in wesathering warbirds but never took such a huge undertaking.

I am specifically writing now to ask how I get that rear U/C installed and working properly...I mean, I have not much spare time to try to figure it out...can you help me out?

I am posting a few pictures of "my" FW-190...
Showing the box in which it came disassembled to this country...as well as some detailing done by Bernd.

Next post will show more pictures.

Enjoy
Marcus

Default RE: Refurb on my Airworld FW190.

I have done a few mods to the firewall, since the original motor installed was a King 100 Boxer, which was removed and the Moki 215 purchased to fit.
I found out that with the cowl mounted the Moki would protrude about 10mm and also the mounting bolts and blind nuts would not fit at all. So I took a hacksaw and cut the 10mm off and inserted a new firewall of 10mm plywood. I pinned it through the fibreglass dome and will now laminate some cloth both inside and out to make for a stiff mount.

As previolusly posted, I have a big doubt on how to install the rear u/c as there is no mounting bulkhead or so inside that fuselage. I guess Bernd never installed that tailwheel...
the pictures below show the TW as it arrived, it's brandnew, but looks as used as it could - and should- be. Good job, Bernd.

I also want to explain that, although Bernd did a great job on the paint, the weathering and scale detailing, he didn't go the extra mile to correct the canopy position and outline.
Neither will I - I won't touch the cowl blisters and else. The only thing I will do is the wing root LE cutouts on the cowl. That's easy to achieve without ruining the painting job and it just looks wrong without it.
This model is not intended for scale competition anyway, but for the owners own enjoyment and that's all.

The pictures also show the plane on it's actual status, sitting there on the workbench. In the background you can see one of my 35% scale Decathlons in and ARC status.

Marcus

Nice looking 190- nice to see this thread back to life. I still need to repair my AW190 after a mishap a couple of years ago maybe a little inspiration is all I need.. It is an excellent flying plane and if you can get the cooling right on the moki it is really nice..
Where did you guys get the functional cooling fan? Mine had some issues with the motor wanting to overheat.

LOL no she ended up behind an A10, and a refresh on a fokker d8.. I am thinking I need to get her going but am half tempted to bolt up the moki to my 1/3 stearman instead.. The brown 190 has a 3w106 about 1/2 way fit up.. Seems like I keep getting sidetracked but I have turned out a couple of projects..

I figured I would post up some of the pics of mine. I got it earlier this year and have had alot of work to do to it. It was not in the best of shape when I got it in. I am taking it to monster planes in October.
