Yes, the obsession!
I was a little obsessed too when I just bought the small bolt.
But that's due to my love for building it, (and other RC stuff).
I like to change/mod some things to see what the difference would be.
that kind of fun is similar to running the small bolt.

Ha haa @ sundogz !
My wife would shoot me.
Mind you this is my first, was going to be my last until a few minutes ago.
Looks like the glueing worked ! Just had my first full time problem free run of the bolt and it was great !
Dont know why but the erratic behaviour issue seems to have cleared up this time.
Maybe the angle of the flex was wrong all along ???
I managed to get about 10 mins run time up and down the lake, 3 flips and rod rescue's and scared the daylights out of a swan or two.
At the end motor and cells were warm to the touch but not hot and no puffing.
Is this the end of my teething troubles ?

Sounds like you got rid of the gremlins! Glad to hear it. But no, it's just another rung on the ladder. When you get accustomed to this speed, try moving to a larger propeller - say, a 30mm. Then the swans will be looking over their shoulders!

What would you reccomend for the bolt on 4S then sundogz ? Lots of talk of octura 432 going on but not sure about the S&B part of that..
The fiddling continues......
I just hope the glitching doesn't come back.

I think you should work your way up. A 32mm might be too much for your rig - you should do heat and longevity tests before jumping up. I think I would get a fiberglass filled plastic 30mm and a 32mm (3mm shaft) from [link=http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=Glass+Filled+Propellers]here[/link] and try the 30 first. Whichever you find is fastest that won't heat things up too much, then go to a sharpened and balanced brass Octura in that size.

RE: HK Small Bolt Hydro same as HOTR
Well looks like gremlins are back. Not sure why but I think
I smoked my esc after a 5 min run. Motor tries to turn but fails and get bleeping from esc.
And sniffing the esc smells bad. Motor was hot to the touch. Trying to
Figure out why is tough. Maybe too much angle on the motor mount maybe
Something else. One thing I did find was the middle wire on
The motor side of the esc came clean off when I took the esc out for
Examination. Other than that all I can think off is too much
Friction in the drive line.

Ran fine and then quit once then ok then died. No glitching like before. Motor
Just quit. Had it running alot longer the time before. Only thing different was that the cells both took over
An hour to charge which was strange but otherwise nothing. Totally confused now.

Sounds like something was in a bind, but you were having too much fun to test for high heat/amp draw. Hard to say. You have a 45A water cooled esc, don't you? It would have taken quite a load to fry it. Maybe after things rest a while all will go back to normal (reset). Hope so, anyways!
