First flight, NO Traing wheels! With a heart stopper.
After 5 gallons and a couple of rebuilds the training wheels came off today!
Hovered 1 tank, and on the second tank I NOW KNOW WHAT FEAR SOUNDS LIKE!!!
The sound of the covering coming off my Woodie blades.I have read about it ,so I was prepared for a smooth panicked landing.
Just wanted to Thank Every ONE for the help.
Feel`s like I`m starting over.OH well, whats another hundred gallon`s.
Raptor 50 V-2.

Congratulations! It won't be the last panic'd landing you make. I'm surprised the shrink wrap came off on you like that. You sure you shrank it on good?
You know for $50 you can get an inexpensive pair of CF blades from AMain hobbies (Protek), and your problems will go away...at least the woodie problems. I mean the woodies are $25, so it's only double the price and no covers to deal with and no prep time. Just bolt 'em on.

Everyone at our club has shifted to them because of their low cost. Paint job is a bit iffy, but it's not like these things are permanent fixtures....
If you can hover without training wheels without mishap, and handle emergency landings, you may as well move on up.
Welcome to the dark side.

plus with carbons you can have any head speed without vibrations if your tracking is 100... woodies max out somewhere along the road...

Thanx, they were Maverick blades they came pre covered and grips were already installed. The covering was really tight so I did not hit them with the gun. When I weighed them they were 1 gram apart. I have another set of fiberglass stars and stripes Mavericks I got from a friend, there going on.

They're cheaper than CF. The old sages at our club used to fly fiberglass when it first came out. They say that the only problem is that they're not as stiff as one would like which means you won't care until you start into doing some hard turns etc. with it. I think you're not there...yet! You will be. Keep practicing!

A hard turn takes me 3 and a half minutes to make . Tail in.
I have contacted a member on this sight who live`s pretty close to me, and when the weather warms,I hope to hook up with him.
Don`t want to name drop but, he makes some very good training vid`s on Y-tube.
I think, that after I let some one else take the sticks, and show me what this thing can do, i will be a heck of a lot more confident to try new stuff. Being self taught, I take VERY small steps.

Being self taught has major suckage. Hook up with an experienced pilot pronto. It makes it much more fun and speeds the learning process significantly.
Consider joining a club. You will be amazed at the generosity of the pilots in these clubs.

Thank`s Mack, flew again to day and started to get around out of bordem, incorporating rotor and allerion.
I got no problem with the club thing and I`m sure it will be beneficial in this learning curve.
AMA no problem.
Just have to find one that is a little closer than 40 miles, have to make so many meetings in so many days, and pay dues.
My wife say`s it sounds like a cult.
I`ll keep looking.
Thank`s for the encouragement. I`m hooked !

Move to Texas and join our club! We don't have lots of rules and we're not a cult. All you gotta do is some chores around the field and remember to come fly. Oh yeah, it's $150/yr, but that's cheap compared to the rest of the hobby! Heh.
Keep looking and don't give up! Be patient with yourself. This learning process takes lots of months and even years.

Cool! Send that video. We have several armadillos we see regularly out at the field. Don't wanna catch them though, cuz they're a vector for leprosy. Eeeuuw. Bring those horsies on down!
