You could add a room to your house.

When you get to the point where you don't remember what you have it is to many. If you do not even take them down to dust them of , get rid of them. When you are gone they are worth nothing[:@] and that is when the Vultures come IN

NEVER HAVE ENOUGH

I have on average 20 or 30 birds at one time. And that ain't bad at all. I got a bud who lives/flies in Japan, that at last count had over 250 birds RTF, and that's not counting ones still in the boxes. He's got em in every room/closet, and had a shed built to store em in.

I try to keep 6 planes on hand ready to fly. I can only haul three at a time so it's an every other time thng for them. I have had more but some of them were for shows and not flown a lot. I had one friend that had a small barn built to house his collection, he had so many planes it was hard to walk through his hanger. He didn't fly!!! Every one of his planes was built of assembled by another friend, test flown and put into trim then handed over to this fellow and never flown again. He doesn't sell them either.
No, I guess you can't have too many but I only keep the planes I like to fly. I do build planes for other people but usually only planes I would like to have or build for myself. That way I get the joy of the building and excitement of the maiden flight and make a few bucks on the side.

getting rid of the washer and dryer is out of the question....I told the wife once flying season starts I will start thinning out the herd because my building skills are better than my flying skills

You have too many only if the wife (if married) thretens to divorce you if you come home with another plane. It is cheaper to keep the wife and the planes you have.

I am happy with 3 planes and a foamy. I basically have one plane I fly most of the time, a nicely equipped second plane, a little backup/snow skis plane, and a foamy.

I may ditch the .40 Venus and go for a scale private aircraft.

NO, I currently have 5 and 2 orphan engines that need a good home.
Why do you sound like my wife?
Unfortunately I have to work so I only fly once a week.
When I am not working or flying I am here in the Buy/sell section looking for the unfortunate guy that have to sell one of his planes and I can take advantage of his misery

Hey Greybeard, you buddy sounds like a guy in my club. He isn't an RC flyer. He is a collector of RC airplanes. I have seen him spend months on a model, fly it once, and then put it in storage because there was something he didn't like.

One thing I have noticed though. The guys who have lots of planes, say more than 15, seem to crash a lot more than the guys who keep it to 5 or 6. There is a limit to how many planes you can maintain and really understand the flight characteristics of.

if you cant fly a plane (im asumbing its set up and ready to go...maybe 30 min of fixin up) at lease once a year you have too many.....that being said you could have as many as 200 still beat that requirement and as little as 5 and not achieve it.....just depends on how much time you have

Default RE: is it possible to have too many airplanes?

i have at least 40 props and 10 turbines,,and as stated earlier by someone it is hard to keep them maintained and remember the flight characteristics of each..i have B-17 bomber and 2 C-130,s as well as 100 cc props and now into twin engine F-14 check my gallery...i find if i put them out of site in rooms i emptied for thier storage then after time i see it and get interested in it as if it was a new plane..today i ran into my P-82 i forgot i had behind some wings and brought it out for battery change and dusting off..and as for crashing my boring plane,s are the one,s i take chance,s with pushing the envolope during stunts because i know i have something else in the bus that i carry them to the field in..and as also stated someone said send to him in mail WELL i gave 3 away that were damaged and i knew i don,t care to get around to fixing them since i have tons of flights on them..Sooo its feels like having a 2nd job to keep up on everything and still be safe...P.S. i actually went to swap meet yesterday and didn,t buy anything after 25 years i think i,m sick or something
