I have a cheap toy-grade rc That I got at radioshack for 15 bucks (http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=10756036). It works but it is nothing amazing. I have already begun modding it but need advice. I ahve mounted a Steering servo wich works and I have replaced the RC equitment but now I would like to replace the motor and add a ESC. I have a very limeted budget of around $30. I found a motor on Jameco (http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/sto...0001_232005_-1) that is the right size but I dont know if it is any good. I am very new to RC so dont really know relable stores and manufactures. I know you will probably say just buy a Real rc but I would rather do this becasue I have already started and I liked building thing. Also is there any other upgrades I should do. Thanks.

I want to be able to go in grass at about 10mph so if that is more torque or speed I don’t know. I am not going entirely hobby grade because I am turning into a robot so I don’t need any RCgear just the actually Car.

I have measured the motor and the max size I can have is:
Diameter: 20mm
length of entire motor and shaft: 42.5mm
Length of motor: 31mm
Shaft diameter: 2mm
I have Looked for one but I cannot find one.

I'm not sure ,I don't have any working knowledge of the brushless systems,everything i run has brushed motors & low-end ESCs.

I found this ESC that is almost perfect except for one feature. It says that the power max is 7.2 volts but the battery I have is 8.4 volts. If I use my battery will I fry it or should I just get a new battery. Also it says it provides a regulated 5V output where is that outputted? the Servo header? And the last thing is this a good vender and how much is shipping i cannot find it on the site. Thanks

Those are some of the flimsiest gears I've seen in a R/C truck. I think your gonna blow teeth off the gears with just a mild brushed 270-280 motor. The gear box plastic looks like it will twist and flex and just give you problems.

If you want to modify a Radio shack truck, at least get an older one thats made by Nikko, there comparable to tamiya in build durability.

You should beable to get a Much better radio shack truck used on ebay for $50 shipped. Will have real working supension, 4x4 and digital proportional (like older Nikko).
Anything with a 540 motor will be a good truck/buggy. Some have twin motors, there good chassis to.

Out of curiosity today I took the truck out side instead of double A's I used a) a nimh 8.4V or B) 2 9V in Parallel. 10 minuets, two dead batteries, and about 3 feet of air later I figured out that it is the batteries that are the problem. The only place in my yard It got stuck was in pine needles where the tires just spun not getting any traction. So does any know of a good cheap battery one that outputs 7.2 or 8.4 volts. Thanks.
