Took a short break from getting the RV ready, punched out one panel. Any recommendation's on adhesive.
I'm proud of my son as well.
Yep. Contact Cement. Spray both parts, let it tack up, and hope you get it on straight first time. You won't get a second chance.

Actually, there is a tacky glue from Michaels that works better than Scotchgrip 77. It won't attack foam either (if that matters to you).

Sure does. Elmer's Craft Bond spray adhesive. You can get it at Michael's.

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask everyones advise, I have bought a Pica Waco YMF 3/5 1/5 scale. I have did a little reading with the papers that came with the kit and it says a .91 (2 stroke glow) or a 1.20 (4 stroke glow), is the correct engine for this kit. What would you advise me to put into this kit, for the engine and the servo's?

I would like to have your advise now, so I can make up my mind and then maybe i can find the correct engine at Joe Nall.

Thank you in advance,

We would advise you to fit engines in that range. It is not a big model, and standard servos will do the job just dandy. The model builds a bit heavy, so feel free to substitute good wood for 'kit' wood wherever you find the need. All the necessary mods, tricks, etc are detailed in this thread.

I thought I woud butt in here if that is OK.
I have a lot of experience with contact cement because we lay up a lot of countertops. One of the easiest ways to work with positioning parts is to lay 2 or 3 strips of wax paper down (covering the surface)on the glue once it dries enough to not stick to you fingers, and lay the piece on it to be glued down then position it, clamp it so it doesn't move. then take one piece of wax paper out, stick that section down, then take the rest of the wax paper out. The wax paper will not stick tight to contact cement and does not affect the integerty of the glue. Hope this helps.

Wayne

PS, I have a Pica Waco that I have not had the nerve to fly yet as I am only a couple years into the hobby. It is a beautiful plane w/ OS 120 up front.

Thank's stickbuilder for the help with the glue.
everwood, I will do a test run, hope it work's. Would make it much easier.
JRM23, I personally would go gas, nothing worse than all that oil on a fine plane like these. Mine has a 26cc RCGF, runs great on the stand with a 17-8 prop. And for servos standard would do fine. I went one up and used futaba 3010, has 90oz torque v.s. standardat 56.
Good luck, have fun and take your time.

Acerc,

Thank you for your advise. Is the company that makes your 26cc RCGF, ZHEJIANG? The reason that I am asking is because I have found several companies that have a listing for the 26cc RCGF.

I really do want to go with a gas engine.

Thanks for everyone help and advise,

John, I picked that motor only because it fit the best in the cowl and the guy at Grave's (LHS) said they were good.
Was quite surprised at it's quality and how well it has ran so far. And-
No I'm not affiliated in any way.

Wayne,

Here is a good way to handle laminate on counter tops. Instead of wax paper, place a series of dowels on top of the fiberboard with the glue on, and place the glued laminate on top of the dowels. Once you have the laminate aligned, you remove the dowels one at a time, and you are good to go. Been doing that for a long time too. We were the largest Kitchen company in Central Florida. Lots of Laminate, Quartz, Solid Surface, Granite and more.

Seems there are several ways to skin a cat. I had friend who made tops a long time ago. He used venetian blind slats to hold apart for alignment. We have been using the wax paper for 30 years and get along very well with it. Works especially well when making a mirror cut joint. Almost invisible seam.

You don't do post form? Good for you. By the way, save your laminate scraps. They make great model airplane templates.

The out of date sample chips are great place to mix epoxy. I like to take my needle nose pliers and break 1/4'' piece off the edge for stirring stick. Use rest for place to mix on and when done discard.

Ceije, this is Airboss 45. sorry i have been away working. to answer the question, i am that kind of airboss that tells [suggest] to people where and how planes should move around the Deck. clearly, i am not a boss to anyone. just a good old carpenter that loves to build scale warbirds and golden age planes with round tails and engines. here's a peek/pic. don
