You'll get longer runtimes with 5 or 6S and the 2200, assuming battery capacities are the same. It will draw less current.

I just received my castle 2200 motor and esc and started putting everything together and noticed that I don't have the elektri-clutch that comes with the tekno kit. Do I need to use that or can I run it direct without the clutch? Do I need a different Pinion gear than what comes with the castle kit to run it direct?

You don't want that stupid clutch Tekno has. That is the stupidest thing in the world.

Just sayin'

Do I need to use a different pinion or do I use the one supplied by castle?

Depends on the size. If it's a 15t it should be good to go, just looking at the math. Check temps after 5 minutes, and keep an eye on temps for the first few runs. If it never goes above 140-150, you should be good to go. That'll keep you in the safe zone.

When i rec'd my used Losi, it was missing the Tekno clutch kit.
Not sure what you're putting together here but I needed a long shank pinion as a normal pinion would not reach the center diff.

Also i needed a different motor plate to run it this way.....Amain had it all and its on its way.

And if Im not mistaken, the pinion Castle supplies is a Mod .8, not a Mod 1 which is probably what you need.

EDIT: I see you have a Mugen buggy which would mean a V4 kit....a normal pinion should be ok in your case but not the one Castle supplies.

Castle's pinions are usually 1mod. They don't include pinions with the 1/10 stuff, and everything with a 5mm shaft ITBJRC they supply a 15t 1mod pinion.

Well, unless they've changed, I emailed Castle about this awhile ago inquiring about the pinion they supplied with their 1/8th scale motors and they said they were .8 Mod.
I dont know if it really matters as I'm not very confident in their aluminum pinions anyways....RR is all I run.

Aluminum pinions, yes. That is a bad idea, especially on a 1/8 buggy conversion which has a steel spur.
