Default RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!

When I started to fly mine again with the 200SX i set the CG at 225mm.
Problem is that all of the 6 liters of fuel is well ahead of the CG, so the first half of the flight still felt nose heavy, so the slow hi-alpha flying had to wait until the last half of the flight.

As I almost allways land with about 1/3 of fuel left, I decided to re-balance it at the samme 225mm, but this time with 1/3 of the fuel left in the tanks. To get the CG at the same spot I had to add 250 grams or over 1/2 pound of lead in the tail cone. I feel the CG now is perfect, and the plane now is very neutreal and agile, and still with out any bad habbits.

Staale, those snow pictures are amazing. I finally got my Tiger Meet F-16 converted to P200SX power from a P160SX. Complete and total transformation - hard to believe it is even the same airframe. The P200SX may seem like overkill in the F-16, but believe me, it isn't. Best turbine I've ever owned. So good in fact, I think I need another one for a new scratch build which is about half done.

Hey Tor - when is it going to be warm enough to get a demo of your water system? Even simply on the ground would be great!

Hi Craig! I have a P180 in the new one, and it has amazing power and fuel economy - I usually have 9 minute
flights and still land with 2/3 of the main tank full!! My CG is at 225 mm now, I will probably move it 5 mm back.

Hi Tulz -
have you seen this video?

HI Tor,

I have the 180 in mine too and my timer is set for 11 minutes. I usually have about 2 litres left as well! Awesome power up the hill or in hard turns. I find I get tired and am ready to land after about 10 minutes! Landing is the best bit anyway.[8D]

Thank Tor. Very nice! I'm sure the camera doesn't really do it justice either.

I have the Thunderbird paint scheme on my F 16 and need to do some paint repair on the nose. All three colors. Question, what have you used, or where have you got paint that matches the factory blue, white, and red paint.

Thanks for your help.

Hi all! I am soon ready for my maiden flight with icepilot's old Falcon. It has been masterly refinished by Vidar Hognestad, all up painted and finished as a RNOAF F-16. I will put on the speedbrakes from d4s, plus that I'm about to order the d4s nozzle (anybody else ready with thisone yet?), and the scale detailing kit, and ofcourse the drag chute compartment, That way it'll become as close to the norwegian one as possible. Those who know what to look for, will ofcourse discover that this is a C, not an A as the RNOAF ones are.

Anyway; my Merlin 160 is now in there, and I have been taxiing the falcon a little bit. Seems quite right to me. Now: one of the small tanks is set up as smoke, so I will only have fuel in the top, and the other small tank. I would not have done this myself, but how long flighttime should i set for?

Another thing I really don't understand, is the fact that the original main legs are set not to "lock" in the down position using the dragbrace. Looking at the JetLegend 1/8 undercarriage (a friend of mine have one of these feady for flight), one can see how it should have been done. Even BVM had a very clever way to make the legs lock. Yes, I know this particular plane has around 180 flights, and icepilot says it works great, but I still would like to modify this "issue". I understand the main undercarriage was modified by SM. Are there any videos showing the mod/ also showing that the legs really lock down?

Hello guys..
I just wanted to show off the new scheme on my 1/6 Skymaster F-16 and say what a great airframe it is.
This jet was owned by a good friend of mine and I was lucky to have acquired it from him. The airframe has well over 400+ flights on it and is still in great flying condition. She had A few blemishes on her but nothing that would have kept it from flying. Anton really nailed it with this kit. One of the most solid F-16's I have ever had. It has the rudder servo mounted in the mid section of the tail with a direct linkage to the rudder.
I will be installing a K-170 in it for power and probably the afterburner light ring. This will be a two tank system to keep the lbs down. DS8711 servos all the way around and a simple Smart-Fly Turbo Reg to the RX with two 5000 lipo packs.
Again just wanted to show off the scheme and say what a great job Anton did on the F-16 airframes.
PSWorking on the last stripes now...

Looks great! Nice to see a different scheme on this plane. I am waiting for SM to ship my F-16, so I can relate to your excitement. A gyro on the rudder is not necessary on this plane. It's rock solid without a gyro.

I know it helps keep the tail wag down in windy conditions. The last few F-16's i'v had had no gyro so im wanting to give it a try.

MAVPRO,

The original gear had a positive up and down locks.
The 2nd gear was completely redesigned as a self contained unit, incorporating the center "beam" as part of the gear assembly. Also, the retract cylinders were relocated. There is no positive up or down lock on the 2nd gear, air pressure does the job.
On both gears, the drag links only purpose was to rotate the wheels so they fit in the wheel wells, not lock the gear down.

BRG,
Jon

MAVPRO,
Also, SM said DO NOT alter the gear with positive locks...it was designed the way it was for a reason. I had one with two seasons of lots of flights and the gear works perfect the way it was designed.

Best of luck,
Rex

Did you all tap the aluminum horn on the elevator with a 440? There isn't a whole lot of material around the hole once tapped. Am I concerned about nothing?

Can't make ca jets. I remember seeing pins in the planevideoart video of your last F-16. Do you know if the pins are available at local hardware stores like OSH? Are you using them for the nose gear too? I'm concerned that the gear will collapse between flights when its powered down. Are you putting the pins back in between flights? Thanks!
