The width of the original wheelsare good. You wont want any wider than about another in 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. The wider the wheel, the greater the surface area there is, and as well as it may workon the road, in the dirt, its kinda reversed. The vehicle will tend to "plane" (drift) alot instead of biting onto the ground, especially if you have low profiles on. So, you can find some good prolines and Axial make some good wheels as well. Everyone puts 40 series tyres on (mainly for the look) , but really, they arevery wide, unless your mudding alot.

I'd look for a wheel and tyre packagethat have the same or very similar outer diameter as the originals (or you'll have to change your gearing to suit) and with a rim that is larger, leaving the tyre with less wall (slightly lower profile). There's also tyre compounds to think about that will have a huge effect on handling. The original tyres are extremely soft, allowing them to conform and bite in, but also giving that extra roll out.

The wheels and tyres from the CEN 7.7 are HUGE. Over 7 inches in diameter. They are too big for the MGT. You can use them, but they will look outta place abit. The CEN is a huge vehicle and very heavy, so the wheels can handle the application well.

At the end of the day you have to weigh up what you will be doing with your vehicle (you may have to buy 2 sets of different wheels), as to the type of wheel and tyre package. The best thing to do is go to many hobby stores and look at whats out there and what you like, cause the variations are massive.

From what my hobby shop says, the variations are not so massive. In fact that were not able to find any tires at all to fit my truck. Not a single one, other than the factory ones. They said the 23mm Hex means that no tires will fit. They said that Pro line used to have some, but discontinued them. Is there anyone out there that can show proof that this statement is completely untrue? Because I my self have spent some time looking online. I do not seem to be able to find tires for the MGT 8.0 that are not the stock tires.

You can still find the Pro Line 23mm beadlock wheels on ebay, but they are, in fact discontinued by the manufacturer. I recently picked up a set and fitted some Big Joes on them.

I did have to search around for the 23mm HD adapters, but they can also be found. I haven't run the truck yet, since I'm also waiting for some RPM A-arms, but they look frikin sweeeet!

Its safe to say that you probably wont find different tyres to fit the origianlMGTwheels, but thatsnot to say that you cant at all fitdifferent wheels to theMGT. If you got the 17mm hex's for it, you can fit many other wheels. The only other directfit(23mm hex) wheelsyou can get are from Integy, They do look pretty sweet, andare made to fit the 23mm hex. But yourbuddyat the LHSsaid what he did 'cause he's nottaking into consideration of if you had17mm hex's. He's directlytalking about 23mm hex wheels only.If you got the 17mm Hex, then you'd be open to a massiverange of aftermarket wheels and tyres, which is what we've been talking about allthis time.Get the17mm hex's, thengo out that find what you would like to have on your vehicle. "Then bob'syour uncle"...!!!!!!!!Otherwise, Integy for wheels is a direct fit. There's not too many wheels out there with the provision of a 23mm hex. There's the CEN 7.7, MGT 8.0 and gas trucks, and thats all that I know of.

17mm hex's bud... get em...!! You'll be happy as.

Finally got the RPM A-arms installed. What a difference they make in handling... Lowered the truck about 1/2 inch. Theae pipe adds some punch, still chasing a tune after the first two tanks, but I pretty much got it now. Shocks are team bue star from ebay... they seem to be put together good enough for the price... waiting on some 50wt oil now. Also installed the forward-only kit.

Yea, I bought the Team Blue Star one's as well. They gave me the yellow springs. But I did enquire, and they said that all their springs are the same tension, just different colours. But man....they are a pretty heavy rated spring hey. I noticed that you have one red spring as well. Are the red springs even aheavier tension than the Team Blue's springs...?

So basically, apart from a tougher A-arm, the RPM one's actually lower the height as well hey...?

I just bought shocks, header, torsion bar settup, steering crank assy. Still want to changet the wheels and tires, and A-arms, but will do for the moment. I'll order the A-arms but wont change them until I break the originals XD

Looking forward to fitting all the newby's to the truck, and giving it a tune. I really love the Blue Star shocks hey. SO beefy.... no shock top's poppin offhere...!!! Did you find that you HAD to change the oil weight....and what was the response effect...?

I used the middle shock mount hole on the RPM arms, lowered the ride a little. The springs are Associated red and copper that I had on the stock shocks. I never ran the Blue Star springs, but they feel pretty heavy. I read reviews on the shocks, and one complaint was the oill level consistency. I haven't opened them up, but just ordered some oil so I can re-build them. They feel alright, but I'll open them up anyway.

New Pro-Line 72 Chevy lid....

Pro-Line 3227-00  Chevy C10.

Not sure I like the size, and I could have mounted it about 1/2" farther forward, but I'm OK with how it turned out...

I have a Baja Bug body on the way, and I think next would be a Ford SVT Raptor

Wow...its been ages since on here...!! Anyhow, did some new mods to the MGT, and as you can see its been out bashing...!! So far its been really good, the performance engine works really well, more top end than standard. I havent broken anything on it apart from an (aftermarket) swaybar kit. I had a massive crash and it ripped out one end. Apart from that, no original parts have broken and I have absolutely smashed this thing....most runs I have to straighten out the roll bar, so it never gets it easy. I still would rather a SavageXL I think. My mate has the XXL and its amazing right out of the box. I hope you all have been enjoying your RC's as much as I have...!!!

I ended up ordering a LRP .32 and an Ofna Force .32 as well. So I will try the LRP in the MGT and the Force in the SavageXL. My current 5.9 is pretty much done, not a great deal of compression left.

In the meantime, while I was moving house and my toys were packed away in storage, I bought a new ride. It's a Ford Ranger that Mazda rename. Called a BT-50. Stuck a set of Wrangler Duratracs on it and the rest of the recovery gear. My first 4x4. :-D

Yeah, was just thinking about that and wondering if I would need to, being a LRP and all. But I guess the cases are all the same. Magic is in the sleeve.

It's a pretty sizey mill, physically bigger than the K5.9. Specs are almost 1 more HP more as well.I'll hopefully seal her up, fitted & aligned today. The mounting holes are half-millimetre narrower than the engin mount, so hoping not too much trouble with being able to use original mount etc. I also get the MGT knuckmod completed this week. Damn it's been a long time. I almost gave up but wanted to complete so truck was in one piece again. I hope everyone on these threads are well. Not much response from anyone in a while.

Not much activity on MonsterGT now a URCsubSection either. I need to get a mount for the LRP engine and find a way to get the 8.0's block in the XL

I know it may not interest many people no more but if anyone wanted to finish their MGT Knuck-mod off, I have some Delrin retainers available. I have enough for about 9 MGT's at present.

Have owned an 8.0 for over 5 years now , still running original engine and only replaced one glow plug in that time with 9-10 gallons of fuel thur it , HONESTLY ! I have replaced the rear diff twice and the transmission twice ...BUT .. I really believe it was due to the fact I ran it on concrete so much doing wheelies . Since then I stopped doing that and keep it strictly in the dirt so it can spin the tires a little to absorb some of the shock to tranny and rear ends on take off and NO MORE PROBLEMS ! Another thing is , stay with original tires . I put so big swamppers on it and it looked cool but slowed it down a little and I know it had to put more load on drive train from the extra weight and width so took them off . Soooo much power this thing has is crazy ! I also put the Associated tuned pipe on it and after retuning it ( have to lean both low and high speed needle a little ) found that the low end as far as wheelies suffered a little BUT man ...top end speed is even more crazy now . I have friends that own the SavageXXL and the big Revo and before pipe swap the 8.0 would go past them but now it just walks away from them and the 8.0 is $100-150 cheaper than Savage . I know this because after repeated ***** whoopins.... my buddy sold his XXL and bought a 8.0 now . 8.0 is the baddest MGT out there hands down in my opinion ! Just keep it in the dirt and no trying to jump off your house ( dont forget it weighs 16lbs ) and you have years of fun . My 2 cents

Well, it's been a really bad day. It's been a bad year actually with all 3 of my RC's in the pits. But today I blew the MGT Trans pretty good. At first I thought it would have been only one gear gone but no. I am ordering a whole new unit. After being out of action for sooo long during the knuck mod and finally get it back together again and I blow a tranny!!! :-/
Hope everyone is well. It's been ages.
