Hey Vic,

Sorry for the late reply, I havn't logged on for a while. Anyway, our club www.wcflyers.com races 1/12 scale warbirds with either on O.S. or Magnum .30 4 stroke. The Super Corsair was built by my buddy and is a modified PICA kit and weighs about 3 lbs. Lots of wood in those kits, built up wing, they were designed for combat so they are pretty stout. The Conquest 1 is mine and built from an AirKill kit. It weighs 2.25 lbs and is pretty fast. It has a foam core wing. This is one of 3 classes we race once a month and the turn out is about 20 guys with most flying 1-2 classes.

Cheers
Rob

ORIGINAL: 393wr

Large image of 393wr racer. Now we are realizing fuselage in fiberglass. Wings and other parts are in foam + obeche bonded with epoxy glue. This model is realized for a formula named Air On Man and consist of 3 subsequent tests in one: pylon racing + gliding after only 15'' of engine + acrolimbo. Are u interested? Somebody want rules for contest?
Did anything come out of this?

(quoting a couple of years old message)

I like the look of the plane (reposting a smaller version of 393wr's drawing).

I also like the concept, except I think the concept is a bit too ambitious, and requires too much from organisers. In my opinion, a contest with 2 events would be good:
1) relatively simple aerobatics, and
2) a speed run with two pylons and pilot between the pylons. A bit like the F3B or F5B speed runs but with engine/motor running all the time.

Pylon racers want to race, race, and race; and serious aerobatics guys want to fine tune every maneuver. This could be something for people who like both speed and aerobatics but don't really want to go all out in either.

Yes 393 racer is a mild racer because he must to have other duties too: low stall and aerobatic facilities.
Pylon is over, we need something that save this challenge.
I don't know if this is the correct way but I try ;-))
