Default Zenoah G43LD in boat?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been into RC for years. I was wondering if anyone has ever powered a large hull gas boat with a Zenoah G43ld engine before. The engine was originally used on an earth auger, then later on the Goped GSR40. Stock HP is around 2.5, but I have a heavily modified one(Trevor Simpson head kit and cylinder reed, CNC ported, walbro 668 ported carb, high stall clutch, no rev limiter, tuned pipe) estimated to make over 5.5 HP and probably turns 15-16k rpms no problem. Just wondering, has anyone done this or heard of it? I'm concidering building or buying a boat hull that would be able to hold, just not sure where to start. Thanks!

Sounds like a plan to me!
You should be able to spin a nice big prop with the extra torque from that motor.
Will probably have to use a big offshore mono hul to fit it in there though?

Yeah, thats what I wanna use and probably the only thing it will fit in. Not sure about hardware and cooling setup, plus the clutch is alot larger (78mm). I'm sure there are ways to solve these problems, though.

Not familiar with the G43LD but there were converted G42 motors being sold by Marine Specialties 10 years back or so. They had all kinds of performance claims but I can only remember reading less than stellar reviews from owners.

If you already have the motor then why not!!

Yeah, I already got it and have spent plenty on it from when I used to race gopeds. I'm sure power will be plenty, I weigh about 200 lbs and the goped weighs 40 and it hits 40 mph. Other thing I did just realize is it is oposite rotation of zenoah/cy rc engines. I dont know how much that limits prop selection?

Here is a pic of the engine:

I think you should go for it! Even if it's turning reverse direction you can find a prop that will work. It sounds like the engine has enough power. You could build an engine mount yourself. Below are a couple different style mounts that you could make with some basic tools. Kind of hard to tell how your engine currently is mounted.

Four bolts go up through frame into crankcase bottom. I'm sure I could invent something. Nice setup you have there, is that for your cat? I was just reading that thread lol.

Thank you. No, those setups were in two different Expresscraft deep v boats I built.

Four bolts from the bottom should make it pretty easy to mount. If it was me I would get a hull that would look good with no hatch. That way you could leave the engine air cooled out in the open. There are a lot of guys on here that have built a lot more boats than me and have more information. I still ask a lot of questions myself.

Been there, done that, bought the Tee shirt with a G42. Total waste of money.

If you already have the engine and pipe it might be a good exercise for grins, just don't make any permanent changes to the motor so it can't be put back on a goped.
