I also noticed you dont use seringe needles for your injectors instead you use brass capilary, what size is it ?

Hey Gerals

I noticed the holes in your combustion chamber are very round , what do you use to drill the 0.5mm SS sheet ?

I use simple and cheap ss drills which I sharpen myself now and than. Triangular holes are of no concern at all, some other engines of mine have them, no difference in combustion. Maybe the reason the holes you saw where nice and round because I made several sheets in one atempt. I stick the paper template to the ss pre-cut sheet and I stick 3 ss sheets together using ordinairy double sided sticking tape. I drilled them through all at once making more meat to drill in. In this way I make more liners in one go, very easy!

Rgds,
Gerald

These are 1mm outer, 0,5mm inner. Due to the large diameter it is adviced to make them longer to increase resistance, they are usualy about 60mm long. That's why they are positioned in a coil. seringes may be better but I had this stuf in large qty's. Also it less prone to blockages.

closing 12 holes in front of the cc the situation is slightly better

i will try to close other 12 holes and after 2 different solution of cc

(maybe the problem is the improved performace fo compressor after reduction clearance between it and cover and diffusor ?!!?[&o][&o])[&o][&o]

I have one noobish question.Has the diffuser design anything with thrust? What are the differences between helical(or two stage)diffuser and the kamps one(with glued vanes)? Can the same thrust(16-18kg)be achieved with kamps style diffuser on UT-160ZA ?

Here is my situation.I have a lathe that I am going to convert to CNC but I don't have a mill.So it would be great thing if I could get away without mill by building Kamps style diffuser.

I apologise if there is any misunderstandment,English is not my first language.

i built 3 engine 160 with kamps diffuser style..
16,2 16,3 kg/trust

never tryed with old style diffuser design...but i think that is less efficent...
18/19kg was achived by gerald rutten changing the compressor and modify the diffuser and exaust cone ...

So far I've only done a few test runs

I have some small problems to fix. Then I should be able to do much more testing and post some accurite data.

My main problem is at low power settings (below 40%) I have flame thru the NGV same as Chrigui?? but when power increases combustion goes back inside the combustion chamber.

Does anyone know what causes this problem? [:'(]

More info coming,
Cheers,

So that menas that I can use the compressor like on Kamps turbine(book "Model jet engines")?
Here is the picture(it's a simple round piece of metal with glued vanes):
http://www.gtba.co.uk/engine_designs/kamps.php
You can see picture of Kamps diffuser under "Materials".Is that ok for UT160?
Will I still get 16kg of thrust?

hello .. my problem was the lubrication fluid (front bearing) sucked by compressor due to clearance between compressor base
and the diffuser.... solved later ...

So,will I still get 16+kg of thrust with old style Kamps diffuser(with glued vanes). That kind of diffuser is more similar to helical diffuser in UT160-ZA than to the two stage diffuser in UT160.

your glued diffuser is similar to FRANK TURBINE DIFFUSER..
maybe the trust will be around 15kg...
