Stronger gears for Hitec HS 55?
I am using HS 55's on a foamy parkflyer by insanefoamies.com. They work great except the geartrain is very delicate. A hard landing or even bumping the plane getting it out of the truck often results in a stripped gear tooth. It is always the gear that runs against the main output gear. In the last month it has probably happened 7-8 times. I get 1 free gear strip, because I can rotate the gear 180° for a fresh set of teeth. The next time it happens on that servo I have to use a new gear from the $5 replacement gear set. Does anyone know of an aftermarket HD gear set? Or how about an equivalent servo that is tougher?

You're not using a large enough servo, plane (pun intended) and simple. If the servos strip that easily, one of these days it'll happen in flight. What is this park flyer you speak of?
I would replace the servos with HS81s or equivalent.

Thanks guys. Foamaholic, there are no metal 55 gears on servo city. But I did discover the 56 HB, as rcelect said, which looks like the way to go.

Matt, check out www.insanefoamies.com
I have the Edge 540 model. It is similar to other foamies out there, but the kit is very well-equipped and it flies great.

The HS-56 is the way to go for a similar footprint with a stronger torque rating.
Keep in mind that the HS-56 servo arms and base are different sizes from the HS-55 but the case is similar in size.
Good luck!
