RE: MGT 8.0 tire rim combos
I was wanting to find a set of standard diameter MT tires/wheels like is on the savage or tmaxx that will fit the 23mm hexes. I had some extra 14mm hexes and some old Tmaxx wheels that I mounted on it and it made a huge difference in the handling since the ride height was lowered a bit. the only problem is their is too much power for 14mm hexes to handle. I stipped out 2 of the hubs in about a 1/2 a tank of fuel. Is there a 17mm truggy/buggy hub kit that will fit the MGT? that way I could use truggy tires on it too.

The third picture yellow wheels the middle is HPI Terra Pins. Is that what your looking for? The samller tire is crim fighter mtr. All my wheels are 23mm. I'm running copper springs extra firm in the front and red firm springs in the back with no-preloads. My lower front a-arm has 2" of ground clearance and the rear 1.5". I can now turn on pavement without too much concern about roll overs.

RE: MGT 8.0 tire rim combos
For anyone wanting to run 17mm wheels, the HPI E-Savage (not the flux!) 17mm wheel adapters work perfectly. Thats what im running. There is no 17mm buggy style hub i am aware of that will directly mount onto the MGT axle because the pin hole is so close to the bearing. The HPI 17mm E-Savage adapters are cheap, easy to get, and work great.

RE: MGT 8.0 tire rim combos
Exactly, because of the pin hold location, there is not direct fitting piece. I ended up machining a revo 3.3 adapter. The only reason I did this, is that I did not want the strain of removing the tightening on the factory 6mm axle stub. I still have to use a nut on the stock axle, but it is tightened down and red locktite used on it to hold the adapter on. Now when I remove the wheel, its a 17mm nut, which keeps the integrity of the stock stubby. This is my first set made. After machining the rear of the adapter, the section of the adapter that sits in the wheel sat inside too far. I made a custom washer to take that space back up. I have bashed this combo with no issues so far. When I make the next set, I will weld/epoxy (not sure which yet) and identical amount to the top side of the adapter where the wheel sits to get rid of the spacer made. I basically made a MGT version of what AKA racing makes for the Traxxas Slash.

@Nickboulin,
Those are some sweet wheels man, but I didn't understand how you made the adapter for them. Seems a bit out of my scope to fabricate something like that. If the 17mm adapter for the HPI E savage infact work. It seems to be a more suitable rout for me to take. I would love to have some tires of that size for my truck. They look beastly, can you still pull the front end up with those things on?. How much did they cost?

You can run a standard 17mm hex, but you must then find a spacer to take up the thickness of the buggy style wheel, depth wise. Remember, the hole in a factory wheel is the diameter of the stock axle, the buggy style wheels are made to fit an adapter. You will also need to use a large washer to hold the wheel on. That is why i did what Idid. The beadlocks are made by Axial. 27.00 a pair at my LHS. The tires are from Store.RC4WD.com. They are 40 series Rock Crushers. Icannot wheelie on command now, but it will do all but, which is what Iwanted. When i first drove it, the front suspension would fully extend, and the truck would just take off, every once in a while, it would pull up on the bumper, but not everytime. It still hauls ass and has plenty of grunt. The truck sits high enough now that the frame will not touch the ground when the suspension bottoms out.

RE: MGT 8.0 tire rim combos
The 17mm E-Savage adapters take care of all of that. They come with a nut that has a larger washer made onto it. Then that washer has a ring that protrudes that centers the wheel just like a full size buggy axle would.
I actually modified some 17mm Traxxas revo adapters to fit on my brushless monster GT just like you did Nickboulin. However, it was just too much trouble when the E-Savage adapters make everything work perfectly. Just slide the 17mm hex on the axle, put the wheel on, and put the new nut/washer assembly that comes with the hexes on.

Here is a link with as good a picture as i could have taken[8D]
http://www.rcplanet.com/HPI_Hex_Hub_...p/hpi86925.htm
You can see the protrusion on the washer that fits inside the hub on the wheel. The hex will center it on the backside, while that protrusion centers it on the outside of the wheel. The washer also has the grooves in it to make it like a lock nut. Can be hard on the chrome on your rims, but I think all the big 17mm wheel nuts will do the same as well.
I personally like the hubs like you run better, but its just a lot more trouble for the same end result, at least for me. haha
Here is a picture of my brushless MGT with the E-Revo hubs, and my 4.6 MGT with the E-Savage setup:

I looked at those adapters, they will do what I am looking for, but I did not want to strain the stock stub axles at the threads with taking wheels off and on.
