5645's are a descent digital servo. But they are known to not be the greatest centering servo.
If you can I would go with 7985's. If you have a budget that you have to work with. Then get analog 985's.
The 985's are not digital. But they have a coreless motor and center very very well. strong and fast to.

Last Friday I also received my brand new Red/Black Ultimate.

No damage on any components from shipping, probably due to the excellent packaging. Some punctures on the exterior box but none were penetrated the inner box.

Up to this point there aren't any missing parts and everything fits perfectly.

My components are:

DLE-55
Slimiline Pitts muffler with the smoke option (I will setup smoke later)
7 Hitec 7955TG servos
1 Futaba S9351 for throttle
SmartFly Sport Plus with Optical ignition kill
Pin and flag fail-safe switch for receiver
Sahara Regulator for ignition
3 x Fromeco 2600 (2 for receiver, 1 for ignition)

JR R1221 Receiver x 3 satellite receivers (from my 12X; finally I get to use the receiver!)

I will post some pictures later on under the "AW Ultimate 20-300" post.

After some minor repairs and installing a new DA60, the Ultimate flew five times this past Sunday without any problems. I am very happy with the DA60, the Ultimate likes it too.
No "dead-sticks"!

It took 2 days of vaacation to put the plane together. the Rudder cables were a real pain! I had to stick my head into the fuse to see if they were crossed. it was not a clean install.
what smoke pump should I use??? hope to be in the air in 3 weeks[]

Hello Frank,
19 lbs with or without fuel?

19 lbs is 8,63 Kg.
A EMWH 1,85m-wingspan (73") Ultimate goes up to 8Kg -> 17,6 lbs with a good MTW exhaust, without fuel.

Regards

Thomas

Finally, I created a hatch close to the tail and secured the servo cable extensions for the elevators from flapping.

I will take some photos and post them here.

First off thanks to all you that gave input to this thread-it helped a lot. Here are a few pics of my Ultimate. Have not flown it yet but have run the engine on my start stand. The DLE-55 Started and ran great. Tweaked the needles a bit but not much. Besides the DLE-55 it has a JR 9 channel power pole receiver powered by two 2300 Mah A123 batteries, Hitech metal gear Hi-voltage servos all around, the smoke pump is a TME unit. Balanced perfect at suggested CG. Have not weighed it yet. Pilot and instrument panel are AeroWorks units.

I finally maidened mine, and the thing flies simply beautiful.. It is probably the most docile plane Ithink I have ever flown, and I have a slight deflection in one of my ailerons that I need to get out. I have the yellow, white and blue model, and it is easily visible in the air. The DLE provides plenty of power, sounds great, and the plane just is a work of art! I am trying to convince my club leader to get one, as he has flown my Edge 30cc(Ihad a mishap with the landing on that one last week after many, many flights) and now this one. I am hoping he does purchase a bipe, as he likes them also and we had a ton of grins flying it... Thanks AW for a great product and experience...

Hi Guys,

Thought I posted this before on this thread but I don't see it.

I lost my AW 50cc Ultimate three weeks ago to a wing failure after 30 or so flights, I had just completed a negative push to inverted level (square horizontial 8) and both left wing halfs departed the airframe. This was the third flight of the day and all wing attachment bolts were installed. The fuselage impacted the ground so hard that the fuel tank clunk came thru the side of the tank, airframe and most equiptment were total loss. Conversations with AW haven't been to my benefit.

One note for you guys flying the AW 50cc Ultimate. I noted on my Ultimate that the strip of covering that covers the upper wing butt joint would be wrinkled after a flying session. I could iron it back down but would show wrinkles after next flying session and obviously the wing or wings were flexing in flight. I pondered these wrinkles and eventually considered them normal<this was a major mistake on my part.

I am a IMAC / pattern style flyer and the wing failure was of no fault of mine but "it is what it is".

Default RE: Introducing the new 50cc Ultimate 20-300

I FINALLY maidened mine today and was very pleased with it. The DLE-55 ran like a top, and powered the Ultimate easily. Mine weighs 18# dry and flies very light. Loved the takeoffs and landings. Just carried a low throttle all the way in and used throttle to control rate of descent. I do think it flies and lands better than my 50cc Extra 330L. I found that my plane must be tail heavy. It was not sensitive to pitch at all, but the plane pulled to the LG whenever I applied enough rudder in both upright level flight and KE, and it did not need ANY elevator to maintain level flight while inverted. The plane also wanted to roll out of KE. I am going to move my batteries forward a little, perhaps just one at a time. On the other hand, the plane handled on the ground well, with no tendency to nose over, and I hope that moving the batteries forward does not create the tendency to nose over on our grass field. I did not find any weakness in my wing after two flights today, nor any wrinkled covering on the wing joint, but I will keep watch as the flights accrue. I did not wring the plane out, but I did do some gentle inside loops, the gentle climbing half of an outside loop from inverted, and a number of rolls and inverted passes. I am totally anxious to get the plane out for more flights with the new CG and probably some programming to compensate for the coupling during KE. Here are a couple pics of the plane on the runway today, a perfect day in Salem, OR.

Frank,

I am so sorry to hear that you completely lost your Ultimate.

By any chance did you see the condition of the plastic bolts holding the bottom wing?

Good luck,

Nick

FlyNick,

The plastic bolts and the ply plate they attached to were laying on the ground at the crash site. This assembly had somehow popped out of the fuselage on impact. The fuselage was really torn up all the way to the trailing edge of the lower wing.
