Ultrastick 120 Lite, love it or hate it?
Well, I just got my Horizon hobby air quarterly, and I have mixed reactiona bout the Hanger 9 ultrastick 120 lite.
I like:
1. the fact that it's big
2. It's just like the old one
3. it's 2.5 pounds lighter than the old one
4. It hads a redesgned rudder for better aerobatics.
What i don't like:
the finish, it looks like some see through waz paper covering that you can see all the ugly lightening holes and all the frame. How ugly!
If anyone can post a pic, please do so. I vote that this plane is good, but I'd definately recover it if I bought it.
What do you think?

I like it also except for the BUTT ugly see thru covering. Why don't these companies do a little research and find out what the people like before they choose a color scheme? They could put a poll up here on RCU and maximize their sales potential.

I really like this plane, but the covering shows al the holes and incomplete sheeting and ply and balsa that had to make this thing lighter. At least put a colored covering over it, please.

I like the new Lite US, then again I love Ultra Sticks. The lite one seems to be built nicely. Clear coveing is lighter than color..or so I have heard...maybe Hangar 9 was just emphasizing the effect of the planes lightness. Or just to show how much the plane has been lightend through that clear covering. I have a highly modified 1.20 US that is probably the same weight as this new one, but with the old color scheme. It has carbon fiber, counterbalance on the rudder, lightening holes, its made for 3D. Pics are here at my site if youd like to check it out... The Trick Stick

Hanger 9 are you listening? How can you put a clear coat skin on an airplane so no one can see it in the air? Need bright colors with contrast so we can tell where it's going...... Go back to the drawing board and try it again. I think this would be a good seller, but I won't buy one with this covering scheme..... Worse than ugly. Can't see it..............

I was thinking about getting the new one, but after seeing it, I'll stick with my Original US 1.20. I don't like the new transparent covering and if I'm going to recover it anyway, I might as well buy another used original US 1.20

What this plane needs is the rudder extended below the horizontal stab so that is has less roll coupling. Similar to the Dog House that everybody seems to love so much. Not sure if this one is fixed but the old one and the .40 knife edge with tons of coupling.

If it flys like the others in the series it will be a great airplane. I agree with the other posts that the choice of covering is really terrible. For me its no big deal as I recover my ARF's as a standard practice. I like to be a little different than everbody else! Personally I would prefer an ARC (almost ready to cover) version that could sell for $40.00 or $50.00 less.

I would have thought they would have learned from their earlier Stick, that people prefer the solid colours...or an ARC version.
This one looks just like the 60 in the pictures, they could have at least changed the trim scheme.

I like it
I think that this plane is going to be pretty awesome myself. If I had the money, I would definetly buy one. I am like the others though, I'm not crazy about the covering on it. But hey, sticks aren't good looking planes anyway. Just my opinion!

everyone liked the 60 because of it's size. after the discontinued 120, that was the biggest you could go. Do you like the transparent covering? Some things are just better off being covered up instead of shown off.............

You know the "stick" design lends itself to so many types of color schemes. You would think that someone at Horizon could come up with something better than this! Maybe it has to do with the mass production or something.

Hi Guys,
Interesting feedback. Someone here hit the nail on the head, we chose th transparent Ultracote to highlight the light weight look of the model. As compared the the original Ultra Stick 1.20 this is a totally different animal. With a Saito 1.80 it comes in around 9.5 lbs. The difference the crow makes on the model at that weight vs the weight of the original is amazing. It is really a blast to fly.
I take it that those who dont like the transparent covering dont like the look of other models done similarly such as the Flip?

Hey Mike,
How about making the tail section like the Dog House Extreme or Lanier Extreme Stick. This would help a ton in knife edge and coupling issues in general. I have flown all of the ultra sticks and love them except for tail. If I build another one I think I will mod the tail like the Dog House.
Thanks, Lane
