Hi Crew,
Well, I went down to "Stockies" for an hour and ran 4 packs this morning.
Surf was only small but perfect wih glissening light offshore.
Got quite a few nice little waves.
The old NQD ran well and dry and the cable did not snap this time.
I think I have sorted the problem but only time will tell.
Did break off half a prop on the 4th.
I nearly forgot how much fun RC Surfing is, this was my first session since I lost my expensive brass prop. (that pissed me off)
A couple of older guys stopped to watch and chat and a few cars pulled up in the car park to check out the little Dude in the orange wetsuit.

What Fun!!!

Might have to get workingon thatnew board just in case Ron comes "Dude Hunting" way out west.

Sea ya.

John,

Yes the surf is good right now. They said the Wedge was 15-20 feet Thursday. I surfed today, Saturday at San O it was head high and fun, some long lulls but the sets had 5-7 waves.
I wanted to take out my RC surfer but to many people in the water and the tides was still so low the waves were a hundred yards out. I tried to take the Dude out at Doheny but they are having the Blues Festival and the place is so jammed its not funny. I did take him out at Baby Beach in Dana harbor just to test the hull mod and motor swap. Everything worked fine.

Yeah, It's a Heavily crowded Break. Only 1 peak, So It's a cut throat type place...
And Only Hits a few times a year, But when it's on, It is probably the best sand bar generated peak in the whole US ....

We used to surf 56th street and River Jetties in New Port a lot back in the 70's and early 80's. We called it Zoo Port cuz of the crowds. But during the summer south swells it is fast and hollow. I used to body surf and photograph the wedge from the water then too. But today... No Way.

We Were The Crew At 36th Street. The Mouth was Better Surf and didn't realize we were in
Polluted Run Off Water. Still remember the Scents of that place, so close to the Sewage treatment plant....

Remember The Frog House ?

Blackies Got Pretty Good Too ...

The WEDGE, I wouldn't even Swim out there.
Remember the 1979 swell From New Zealand. That Place Was Enormous
and breaks in 3 feet of water.

Ron Romanoski Made Us Respect That Place From The Sand ...

Dan,

Water temp is 21 C but air temp is down to about 25 C Max.
Dawn patrols are getting very chilli now, but midday sessions are beautiful.
Can't wait to see how your machine handes in the surf.

Sea ya.

Hi Guys,

Bob and I went to "Greenough" this morning.
Here are a few cool pics we got at our session.
Broke an o-ring on the second pack so we went home.
Might try again in the morning.

Sea ya.

Curlz,

This is the one I am using.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=16199
It has a heap of settings that I dunno what they do, LOL.
Anyway, I set the servo on 75% otherwise it is too sensitive and tends to oversteer easily.
Great radio, I know quite a few of the guys on here are using it to.

I just went to get some o-rings but the place I got them from before only had really thick ones about 3 1/2mm thick.
dunno if they will fit through the loops.
I might have to find some online.
I remember Seb put you onto some, can you please tell me where you are gettin' 'em.

Here's a pic from a while back, I think it was "Point Moore".

Sea ya.

Ice,

I have ordered 50 x 18mm x 2.5mm online.
If you can get a dozen of those when you come up that would be cool.
Thanks mate.

OK, that's it,
My experiments with cable have left me feeling a little let down.
Bob and I went to "Greenough" again today and the waves were good and getting better.
First pack went well but the cable snapped on the second.
They are just not holding up to the job for some reason.
So now I have to find a better way.
Looks like the Seb/Can version flexiend shaft with threaded props is up next.
I have one in my Kyosho Lisa with a 32mm racing prop and it is fast and seems reliable.
Hopefully, Bob got a few cool shots again today.
I will post a few pics later on when they come through.

Meanwhile, it is back to the drawing board as they say.
If anyone else has any other ideas for strong reliable shaft coupler setups please post.

Here's another old pic from Bobski.

Sea ya.
