LiFe pack swelling
I bought two of these (the 1/16 E-Revo kit) back in Feb 2011, and have put less than 50 cycles through each of the packs, and now both packs have started to swell, so I've stored them in the lipo sack and have come here for advice / support. I did e-mail Client a month or so ago and never received a reply, so I"ll reach out here to see if I have done something wrong.
These packs have only been run as single packs in the 1/16 E-Revo in a completely stock setup, no modifications at all. I have charged them with the EOS6060i charger using the LiFe setting. I began charging these packs at 6A (which should be OK, 1050mAh at 6A is 6C charge rate, correct? These packs should be able to handle 15C charge.) Once the first started to swell, just to be safe I lowered the charge rate of the second pack down to 3A, and now the second pack has started to swell.
I believe I have ran these packs well within specifications and have never over-discharged either of the packs, nor abused them in any fashion, physical or otherwise. If I have done something wrong, could someone please point out the errors, I really do not enjoy costly mistakes.
Thanks,
Steve C.
