Default EARTHQUAKE and Most 1/8 scale Redcat diff upgrade

This techniquetook me about 6 hrs, but since this i havent opened my diffs inmonths and gone through 3 engines. I Ran my newCaldera2days before the differentials wore out, upon opening them found them dry.So before you break in any product with moving parts, I myself prefer to totaly disasemble the unit and make sure the propper lubricants are used. Molly Grease Black will go along ways and wen ever i order Bearings no matter how small I dissasemble then soak them in a cleaner and add just a 1/3 of the available space w grease , using the drag technique with grease in my palm then Reasemble. A little messy But ensures proper lubrication. To remove the snap ring you have to find it and get under the hook end and pryit out, and be carefulthey liketo jump out. I put a glob of soder on a sewing needle loop end about the size of a pea I was going through bearings every week but now every month or more. OK the upgraded Tornado Pinion gear worked the best for me 02030T, it has the best pitch. But it is too thick. You have to wear safety glasses when grinding off the solid end opposite the gears about 1 to 2 mm from the base of the gears, making sure it is even or it will wobble then using a chain saw blade sharpening stone. I reamed out the shaft hole to where it went on rather snug. And then for the pin slot i used a dremmel cutting wheel keeping it centered your gonna make it a little to long but as long as the pin is in a low center spot it wont move far.Putting a good washer in between the pin and the bearing is important. I used the Slipper clutch spring washer on bolth of mine. Check out these upgrade ideas and more at, www.catbob007.rcuniverse.com . any input is apreciated, and if you can keeper at full throttle, dont dottle.

This upgrade also works for the Caldera 3.0 that was the unit thatI initialy did the upgrade on also the hard nose upgrade removing the soft plastic Fr chassy with the rear of an extra aluminum chassy for the caldera and also a shock upgrade using shocks for the Avalanche XP and 2 extra upper suspension arm mounts to raise the shock towers for longer shocks.they are in the threads just a few pages back.
