Oakdale, Ca contest 6/25,26
Who's coming? Who is gonna be there on Friday and early, or late. Need to figure out when I need to be there and if I need to bring the boat! Could fly a few flights, do a little wakeboarding. Fly a few more, maybe a little more wakeboarding..hehe Who knows, maybe I'll be maidening the Opium on Friday.. [:-] Worth the trip to see that....
Also, do FAI cats wanna fly F? I may be flying the new Z sequence. What? Haven't seen that yet? You're about 2!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha
Looking forward to seeing everyone! I think I have a spare room if Meierhoff isn't coming up if anyone is interested. About 40 minutes from the field though.
Directions and pics from Google I reckon.. http://www.rcflyersunlimited.com/Location/Location.htm There is camping at the field, no hookups of course, but at the lake there is. Plus tent sites..

Chris, I will be there. As far as flying 'F' I don't particularly care to fly it but if it will help anyone preparing for the Nats or in general most of the F3A pilots want it, that is fine with me. Most of my sequences are unrecognizable anyway so I could fly 'P' and say it was 'F' and no one would know any difference.... ;-) I might even score better that way!!!!

Hi Don,
I can dig it about F. But if the Kimbro's come, I would like to give them the opportunity. If they don't come, then we don't have to IMO.
Just got done (well done enough to fly) buffing the paint on the Opium. Had to run to Modesto to get a bottle of canopy glue. 60 miles round trip for a 4 dollar item. lol. Hadn't had to glue a canopy on in quite some time. My glue was dry so I had to get a new bottle. I have to reinstall all the stuff in the fuse and run the wires for the rudder, glue in the battery tray, setup throws and such. I'll be lucky to test fly it Friday. Not sure I will fly the contest unless some miracle happens and I nail the setup on the bench. Hasn't happened for me before though. haha
If I can get Greg Meierhoff to come up, maybe I'll fly my old friend the Abbra though!
Looking forward to seeing you all!
Jarvis, have a safe drive up man!

As far as F goes, I am ok with whatever works. Maybe I should break down and actually practice it a few times... ;-)
Looking forward to seeing the Opium, new models are always exciting. See ya there.

Hi all,
I will be attending the Sportsman level with my Sebart Wind 50e. I might be in Oakdale on Friday to practice a bit in the late afternoon. It will be nice to see Luke and Kevin there and meet other competitors as well.

Jon, just bring your daughter with you to the contest. What more could she want? Wonderful company, great discussions about aerodynamics, theory of judging, a dynamite lunch. Just think how grateful she would be.....

I was going to bring my 15 y/o daughter with me as well but after practice on Weds, I decided to stay home this weekend. My eyesight has gotten bad enough that I had to close one eye so I could fly one airplane and not two. I will be at Morgan Hill with a new pair of glasses for sure!

Looks like I'm missing a good one! Just as well, I went to the Reid Hillveiw airport open house yesterday here in San Jose and flew my pattern ship in a demo. While loading up I noticed the motor was binding up. When I took it apart I found loose magnets with one actually broken. Motor is shot. Had I gone to the contest I may have gotten through round 1 and then been grounded.

Dale demonstrated that the Hyperion LiPo battery needs a tougher package so it could survive be ejected from 300 ft then run over by a truck......
