Has anyone built the old Miss Texas from Chuck Cunningham plans?
I have the plans and they seem straight forward enough but I was wondering if anyone had first-hand tips or experience of the plane

I posted this some weeks ago.
I was wondering if anyone has gad first hand experience with this plane. The plans call for a .61 motor but one must keep in mind when this plane was designed.
I was more thinking in terms of a .91 2s or a 120 4s.

Anyone built this plane?

Hi,

I've never built one of these but,

If this is the same plane you're talking about.....

I'd use a 120 four stroker with the floats on. Nice to have
some x-tra oomph to get her out of the water. Looks like a
rugged design.

I built one a long time ago. Powered it with an OS .61 FSR and it was a screamer. It iscertainly worth the build time as it flys very well. It flys very much like a GP Sportster 90/120. A good .91 four stroker would be plenty power for it. You will enjoy it.

I have just built the Miss Texas. As yet unflown. I modified its construction by re-drawing it with 3DCAD Rhino. Although the shape of my version is the same the build has been modified using laser cut liteply. I have fitted it with an SPE 26cc engine. See attached photos.

I have the plans, too. To me, it looked like a gasser would work well. Please let us know how Miss Texas flies with your 26cc engine.

My old eyes just can't see much in those small thumbnails. Is your wing loading up with that gasser?

I've got to admit, that engine dosen't look out of place (too big) on there. It will most likely be just right. I see this is your second post as a new member here. Welcome aboard.

I have a Miss Texas with an OS 91 fs. It is more than adequate power for this airframe. The idle must be set quite low or the plane will not land. This is a fun airplane!

Was it hard to balance, with the 91 fs up front ?
