RE: Jet-Teng L39 for P20
One of GBR Jets Composite fuel tanks for the Habu fits with just a bit of material removed from the air intakes, these are very large as they are designed for EDF the amount of air they will let into the fus will be more than enough for the P20.

RE: Jet-Teng L39 for P20
Hello Mike,
Do they sell the fuel tank without the rest of the Habu sports kit?
If so, how much is a tank at GBR?
Might be interesting to see how they work out.
Can you please upload a picture from the bottom so we can see how much ducting has been removed?
Cheers,
Clifford

Marc will sell you whatever you want, I am getting a single skin tailpipe and fittings from him as well, watch this space, have a look at his web site "GBR Jet"
Will upload a pic of the duct tomorrow once I have cleaned up the area, don't want the smart a***'s to have to much ammunition to fire at me, been there before.

View of the tank and duct inlet modifications, will need to line the cuts with something to prevent the tank being worn away through movement. possible candidate for silicon mastic.
Mark is making me a tank with the fittings turned through 90 degs to make the installation easier, this of course will be easy if you buy the sport version of the tank which you have to assemble yourself.

After flexing the flap live hinge to 90 degs a few times the kevlar material had split, so they had to come off and hard points put in to accomodate Robart pin hinges in both the flap and wing, this has slowed things up considerably, but is nearly back to how it was when I started i.e. flaps hinged, I am also concerned that I will have insufficient rudder movement to do my favorite tail waggle, may have to open up the gap in the fin a bit to allow more movement of the rudder.
Fishing tomorrow, will post more pics on Wednesday.

A few pics showing the servo positioning and the gear doors ready to be hinged, the elevator servo's are going to take a bit of fiddling to make sure they do not foul the fus, have not decided how to do those yet, weather the linkage will be internal or exposed, but the elevator horns will have to be on the root of the elevator.

Started on the turbine install, I am using bits from the Habu conversion kit sold by marcs of GBRJets, all fits together very well and looks like its made for the job, just a bit of trimming needed to get it to fit into the L39 fus, will show pics when I do this.

Turbine in approximate position, have to make up my mind if its going to be tail or nose heavy, as there is quite a range of longitudinal position for the P20, Cliffhanger if you are still reading this can you give me a clue as to your equipment positioning? this may help in getting the P20 in the optimum position, was your nose or tail heavy?
Forgot to mention, lots of room for the Kero start plug.

Cliffhanger
Just had a look back at your previous posts and I can see where you put everything except the batteries, could you please let me know if they are right up in the nose or under the equipment plate?
Thanks

Hello Mike,
The ay I set the turbine up, made the L-39 Tail heavy.
Place your turbine as much forward as possible.
I had to add a total of 250 Grams of lead/battery
My battery is under the radio plate.
That didn't affect the flying characteristics though.
Keep us posted!

Tacking Cliff's comments on the C of G into account I have managed to move the turbine forward quite a long way, should make a difference to the amount of ballast I will need.
Pic shows the approximate position using some knocked up formers, will now re-make them to fit a bit better.

That looks like a pretty good spot for the turbine.
Don't forget your FOD screen!
You don't want your precious P-20 to swallow a bumblebee during flight.
Best regards,
Cliff

Have one on its way from Grumania in Germany they are the only people that make a purpose made FOD for the P20 at the moment.

New bulkhead and turbine rails made and installed, very concious to not make these over engineered to keep the weight down.

Sorry I have not progressed this much recently, but buying a new house is very time consuming, but buying a new house in a different country is time consuming and very stressful, hopefully once we have signed the contracts I can take my life off hold and get on with the build.

Mike,
You've done a great job with your Jet! Kudos.
I noticed the gear on your model isn't offered in the website.
And there's no mention of wheel size either.
Couple of things would help out my build.
Could you please tell me the wheel sizes? Possibly get a great photo of the gear struts.
Also, did you get a final total weight?
Thanks,
Charles

The gear is the E Flight electric retract set and Tam Jets struts designed for the Habu, wheel sizes can be anything that will fit, up to about 65mm for the mains and 50mm for the nose wheel, I have not finished the install so the final weight is still be be determined, I am waiting for an installation kit for the P20, Ali is on to this for me.

Mike,
Thanks for that info.
OK, so you didn't use the struts that came with that model, "out of the box?"
Where on line can I see those struts?
What is the Habu?

Mike,
I've been all through the TAM website. That link is to different gear? Not the same?
Are you sure you got them from TAM?
The Habu? What is it?

Mike,
I see, says you got them from Boomerang jets? Here's a photo of the Habu gear.
Do you have a nose wheel like this L-39 ?
That's what I'm looking for.
Been looking for ever. Can't seem to get straight answers?
