Default Kentucky Fall Classic

Come join us for the 8th annual Kentucky Fall Classic. Plane size is restricted to true ¼ scale, 80 inch mono plane with the exception of warbirds which can be no less than 70 inches, bi-planes must be 60 inches or larger. This event draws pilots from all the surrounding states. Our event usually draws many scale aircraft and warbirds however all types of aircraft are welcome. We do fly a racetrack pattern when more than one plane is in the air.All the plans are not in place but tentative plans include a cookout on Thursday, a dinner on Friday or Saturday. We also plan to have food on site for those of you who like to eat instead of fly.Hope to see you there.

Hey guys I just wanted to let everyone know that we will have eight 30 amp rv connections this year for those that want to bring their camper. We can also supply a few 20 amp connections if needed. We are expecting a great turnout this year. A bunch of the regulars are committed to coming and we hope to attract a few newcomers. If you like a nicesize laid back flyin with great hospitality and people this is your event. The pilots that come to this event are some of the most friendly people youwill find. I have posted a few pics from previous events for your viewing.

How bout posting to this threadif you plan to attend. We would like to know approximately what to expect for a pilot turnout.

Hello Pilots and Friends,
In my previous posts I forgot to mention one of the main reasons we host this event. We give at least half of the proceeds from this event to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital here in Lexington. This hospital treats severe trauma patients, Spinal cord injuries, stroke victims, and many other debilitating injuries and diseases. We have been giving to the hospital for the last 5 or 6 years.Their patients come out to the event as part of their therapy. You can imagine what a treat it is for them to get out and enjoy the show and see something other than a hospital room.So please keep this in mind when planning your schedule for the fall and give this event your consideration. Please check out Cardinal Hill @ www.cardinal hill.org.
Thank you,
Docadams

Hey Guys,

I thought you might like to see the results of a 2 1/2 year project by Ed King a club member of the Lexington Model Airplane Club. Ed built the plane from a set of Hosteller plans. It is powered by 4 electric motors. Maybe Ed will see this post and give additional details about the plane and the build. Just click on the link below for the video. Ed told me he may fly this bad boy at the Fall Classic.

Correction - The plane was built from Don Smith plans. Sorry bout that.

I just wanted to let all you guys with campers know that we now have 8 - 30 amp camper connections. We will let these go on a 1st come basis. The anticipated charge for these hookups is $20.00 for the weekend. You know that is a deal so be sure and get your spot come early.

The Fall Classic is 9 days away, Time to start getting things ready, hope to see you there. I heard they have a nice porch to sit on while watching the planes fly. I'm hoping they will put a couch on the porch.
Later,
Randy

Okay Guys,

It's time to make your plans. The Fall Classic is here. The dates are Sept. 15 - 17. Yepthat is Thursday through Saturday. You are welcome to fly on Sundayalso but the event is officially over Saturday. There is no excuse for not coming. The weather is going to be great. We are expecting a good turnout of pilots. Terry Booth said we will not get hungry. The field is in great condition. What more could you want. Oh I forgot we do have a couple of nice gifts to give away. Now what more could you want. Hope you can make it. If you haven't been to this event you are missing a good one. It is laid back and fun. We will treat you like you want to be treated. I almost forgot a portion of the porceeds for this event goes to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital.

I have posted a few of the beautiful planes from years past.

Check out the event page at. www.lmacky.org

Come and see us,

One other aspect of event that has yet to be mentioned is that the local VA hospital will be bringing a bus load of veterans out to watch the event this year. We need as many pilots as possible to really put on a show for these guys. Come on out and help us make this years event the best ever.

That is true and we really need to make the veteransfeel welcome. Thanks for bringing that to our attention. We are also going to have some Cardinal Hill patients come to our event. This makes what we do worth while. Thanks to all of you that support this event and welcome to any newcomers to the event.

The Kentucky Fall Classic is in the books. If not for a little rain and cold temperatures this would have been a perfect event. Thusday was raining and cold in the morning with some sun Thursday afternoon and temps in the 50's. A stiff breaze made it feel much colder. Friday and Saturday the weather was much better. Our guest pilots got in tons of flying and ate lots of good food. On Saturday we all enjoyed a noontime show. The spectators had a great time and were generous with their contributions which helps our club make an annual donation to a local charity. For the last eight years that charity has been Cardinal Hill hospital. Over the past 7 years I would estimate that we have given approximately 6 - 7 thousand dollars to this charity. The event is a giant scale event and draws pilots from several states. This event is growing every year because we treat you the way you want to be treated. Ihope all those that came will come back in the future and we welcome anyone that would like to try our event for the 1st time. The Kentucky Fall Clasic takes place every year on the third weekend in September.

Thank to all that attended,

Doc Adams

I had a great time! They had everything from turbine jets, helicopters, 1/4 scale warbirds, 3D stuff and a candy drop for the kids. I'm putting a video together of the event and will post up a link. Check back in 1-2 weeks as the editing takes some time.
