RE: led lights wiring
I've got neon lights on the underside of the body on my XL. Its just 9 lights wired together going off of a disposable 9v battery. There's a little switch on the back of the body to turn them on and off.

do you use any resistor?

Assuming they are 3V LEDs you could wire 2 in series with a 100 ohm or so resistor to your RX so you don't require exra stuff to power it
I've hooked 6 up to my one RC this way (3 sets of 2 in parallel)

RE: led lights wiring
Here ya go this is how I have my headlights wired on my on-road sorry about the dirt, and grass.
I use 2 3V LED's, a 100 Ohm resistor. The stuff on them is shoe goo to hold them in place.
I used a JST plug(I think that is the name of that connector) on mine so I can disconnect it easier, and have a servo plug going to the RX itself. But if your RX is easily accessible you can skip that plug mine wasn't so.
The other RC I got with 6 LEDs a pic wouldn't help due to how I ran the wiring its kinda hard to make out what I did in pics on it
