Default Abell RC 86" Aerial Video Aircraft ARF?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there has picked up, assembled and flown one of these ARFs?
I have purchased one and would like to know what others have run into while putting this plane in the air!
I am also curious to see pics of any modifications you have done as well.

Thanks in advance!

Rick

kd8x,

I put an RCGF 26 rear carb in mine; I had a special exhaust made for it.... really looks cool!
I will post some picture of it as soon as I can.

I have not flown mine yet as I am still building it; I have made several custom changes to the airplane and it is taking longer than I expected to finish it.
Also I have run into several issues where parts of the plane are not fitting well together and I am having to correct these factory errors. I will provide
more of an update as soon as I can get mine closer to being finished.

I just unpacked mine, now what do I do?
I tried to get the dog to put it together, but she only works for doggy treats.

Hopefully someone has gotten up in the air by now. Does this plane share any characteristics with Sr. Telemaster? Will it fly SLOW?

It doesn't sound too promising that no one ever admitted to flying it does it? I like the concept of this plane.

Loks like a big trainer, should fly like one too! Don't see any snags to prohibit its success.

The one I have has a few problems, the biggest of these being that the wing saddle is lower on the left side than it is on the right.
So when the you put the wing in the wing saddle and even after the bolts are tight the wing is able to rock in the saddle from side
to side.

I have not figured out what to do about this yet; you sure do not want to fly it in that condition!

Has anyone flown one of these yet? I was thinking of getting one myself. Anyone still having issues with it?
