RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
I came into this late but for the Slash 4X4 I can send my current setup sheets I use for outdoor clay, it works incredible all around, tracks perfectly down the straight, and cuts nice and clean thru corners, also very easy to jump. Most itll ever need is tweeked slightly for different conditions. And for anybody interested, PM me for my FaceBook, as I have thoroghly documented build albums for everything done to my 4X4 and one for my old ladys Blitz

The biggest difference i made was by following a artical dedicated to racing & from my experance it works a treat for bashing, i dont race
All it really involves is move the rear upper arms to the upper position on the shock tower *u need to cut a tiny bit of the tower for full suspension travel
set the rear camber to -3deg
fit around 70g worth of automotive wheel weights under the ESC, Im running the proline chassis saver with 60g weights.
And lastly do u know how to mod the diff to run oil? its easy all u need is oil, 2 o-rings & 2 shims.
these 4 changes make the rear heaps more controllable & highly improved straight line acceleration.
even with out the diff oil there is a very noticeable difference, give it a try, cant hurt & is easly put back.
Also from what ive been reading the stock brushed motor classes are generally pulling more laps than the brushless guys.
what class are u racing & what are the modification limits????

well I finally got a 2wd slash and have been racing at a buddys barnyard track. Need some advice from you guys. Im running a castle 3800 with a 2cell lipo and currently 23/90 gearing. Not too happy with the speed or tourqe im getting now. What gearing should i be using? Im running against quite a few 4wds which is challenging to say the least. Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

pitty the 2 wheel drive & 4 wheel drive setups are so different
Dont know how well a high traction setup will go on a low traction track (based on the pic) it looks very loose with no hard packed racing line
I am very intrested in the setup u are running anyway, post it up m8

Hows i got the RPM 2 stage shock pistons, I put the green in the rear and the purple in the front with some 40wt oil. It took longer than expectes because u have to file one of the c clips down. grrrr
Hows, i did notice that all the shock shafts were slightly bent??? what the hell??? all of them!!!
not really happy, ive looked after this car and havent done anything stupid with it, no kidding thay should not be bent from normal driving. wonder if its worth complaining to traxxas about?
havent tested the shock pistons out fully yet, ill let ya know how thay go

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Just a good starting platform, can be tweaked here and there for different tracks but it works in general, usually the most I do is change the top shock mounting position to lay them down more or stand them up. Parts list goes as follows, for some light reading (at this point its longer than my usual grocery list haha)
Castle MMP SCT ESC
NeuCastle 1410 3800kv 4-pole motor
Savox SC-0251mg 222 oz/in steering servo
Turnigy 40c 2s Lipo
ProLine F150 body
E-Maxx rear springs (TRX progressive)
Venom aluminum shock caps
Losi 50wt shock oil
RPM A-Arms all around
RPM rear bumper
RPM shock towers
King Headz motor mount
Hot Racing sway bars
Robinson Racing pinion and spur
center diff
several combos of wheels/tires, but pictured is below
Hot Bodies Beams tires (pink)
Proline V2 1/8 buggy foam
JConcepts Rulux wheels
Probably a couple other mods Ive forgotten
Truck is raced regularly, never bashed, not bad for starting life as an RTR hehehe

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Hey guys have a problem need some help. I was running my slash 4x4 yesterday and doin some big jumps, until the last jump. It had rolled a few times after it landed and was on its top. I turned it over and no response from steering or throttle. The light was red, so i turned it off and back on, it was then green. I've tried resetting transmitter to esc to no avail. I hold the button until green, then red and i release. The light blinks red once and immediately goes green. It doesnt allow me to hold throttle and then hold reverse as stated in instructions. Any suggestions? It is a vxl-3s (unfortuneately). Thanks for looking

ummm... where to start, but the transmitter does not work with the ESC, the transmitter controlls the reciver witch controlls the ESC.
Sounds like u have been pushing the button on the ESC, all that does is changes the running mode, and the LVC, & correct me if im wrong it only goes forward???? it thats the case its in race mode.
Do u have a link radio or just the stock one????
If nothing is working at all try binding the controller(TX) to the reciver(RX) i would try this first

RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
I actually have a cheap 27mhz rx/tx. I didnt switch modes, i followed the vxl-3s programing instructions. It says to hold button until green and then red, let go and when it blinks once, hold the throttle, blinks twice, hold the reverse and its set. Well.... when i let go it turns back green and doesnt allow me to hold throttle or reverse. The truck doesnt move at all, nor the steering.

hummmmm, sorry i dont know enuff about the VXL-3 to help..
Hows I bashed the living hell out of my slash today at a skate park....
The fake motor came off & fell appart, I lost 2 grills of the RPM front light bar but damm it was fun.
not to shure about the roll cage, it needs stiffer springs. might sell it.... or get some new springs, but where to start..
