Thanks. I took a few tries with the aluminum and I had actually given up on this current one to the point it was in the garbage.
Thank God I decided to give one more try. Love the Parma decal sheets especially the graphite sheet and now also the diamond metal sheet.
Covers all the inperfections. .

Yeah I'm a fan too. This is really a nice body. My next one will be the GTO body which is part of the series from HPI for Savage.

Well I did have it higher, but wanted to get it lower. In my prelimary testing it seems ok. A heavy bashing session and we'll see. .

I hear ya, this Beetle ...

looked like this when it was given to me

It also had a smaller engine, plastic shocks, plastic muffler and reminded me of a clown car.

How funny! I was actually looking to buy that buggy (or a clone of it) not too long ago. I think it's one of the best looking buggies around.
Especially the nose.

The Beetle body is made by Proline.
I love the Bug bodies. Due to the dome shaped roof they are very strong.
I have a couple of them and plan to get the bigger one for my 1/8th scale some day.

Finally won a Wheely King on ebay that needs some TLC. Have some projects ahead of it but an excited about the possibilities.
Thinking of the Pro-line Jeep body.

The buggy is a Redcat Shockwave. They also make it in a two speed version called the Tornado. (My Shockwave has been upgraded to the bigger Tornado engine and two speed tranny). They use the same body on an electric version.
Several companies sell the car, it is made by Himoto and badged by Redcat, Exceed and a couple of other companies. If you get one, get the Redcat. They have better customer support.

I can't speak for the electric, but the nitro is a good little car. I had a friends daughter drive it full speed into a concrete curb. It had to be doing 40-45 when it smacked the wall. It broke the wheel ($12 for a new set of 4) and broke a couple of other cheap parts.
I rebuilt with "Bionic Man" quality parts. Carbon fiber shock towers, new aluminium chassis, aluminum steering parts, CV shafts and more for about $50. I could have rebuilt it for about $20 if Iwould have only replaced what was needed and used stock parts.

This was it before the Beetle build was done. It kind of sucks in grass. Get it on flat hard packed dirt or pavement and she hauls......

Oh, you can pick it up RTR for about $120.

Looks good. Might be my first nitro some day. Looks like it did pretty good in the grass to me.

Almost made it a full year without a major break! but it finally happened. Did a front flip, landed on its hood and busted the front shock tower. The one on the MXX looks way different than the Plastic or Aluminum hop up ones. Will they still work? Are they the same size jus different shape? I'm trying to do as many aluminum up grades as possible as this is my winter basher, once that plastic gets cold it snaps quite easily.

yes they will work, BUT they are shorter. The front shock tower was probably the only unique part on the monster XX, but even then it was only an elongated DF-02 front shock tower. Also the alum front shock tower I found bends fairly easy, and will break the mounting pegs so if you have a sheet of aluminum laying around, or fiberglass you should reinforce it, by making a cutout in the same shape, and mounting it in front of the aluminum one (over the plastic holes, they like to break backwards if this isn't done)

look at the front shock on the DF-02 in the pic I attached to see what I mean its hard to describe (found the old pic after I typed all that)

I figured u'd be the one to answer this Right on man, good to know, I appreciate the heads up on it being weak, I do have some plate metal around so I'll be sure to add that. Thanx for the help SyCo. The other thing I was gonna ask it do I need to get new body mount post since the tower is shorter? The ones I have on there now are hella short since I lowered the body.

if you shortened it probably
wish I remembered what tamiya RC the body mount posts came off of that they use on the monster xx. If I remember it right it might have been a Touring Car. Also might be able to rig HPI RS4 body posts to it those things are extremely long I've used them on a few things.
