LiPo Parallel/ single cell charging
OK, first I am new to electrics/ lipos/ charging with anything but the transmitter/ rec chargers. I have searched and am confused
I would appreciate any help.
I have a Supermate DC6 charger. I am somehwat confused on charge rates/ amps/ etc.
1) I have a 11.1v, 2200 mah battery. It says 15C (I have no idea what this means) So, I set my charger to 3 cell (11.1V), and can charge at 2.2 amps safely? Right?
2) I have (5) 3.7v, 650 mah packs (20C... again *** that means?) So, if I wanted to charge these in parallel my voltage is still set at 3.7v, right? But, what is my current set to .65 a max, or (650 mah x 5 batteries= 3250 mah) and set charge rate to 3.25 amps max?
Or put another way...
1) When charging a single pack, I charge at 10% mah rating unless battery mfg says ok to charge at higher rate?
2) When charging in parallel add mah and charge at 10% of the total?
3) *** does the 15C, 20C, etc mean?
Thanks a bunch. I have searched and I think I know what to do. But, I am not to interested in setting the house on fire.

You got it.
1) 2.2 amps is 1C (not 1/10C) The 15C is referring to the discharge rate MAX (15 times capacity)
2) You have this correct too. It is 3.25 amps. Again it is 100% or 1C (not 10%) The total pack capacity is 3.25 ah or 3250 mah
3) C means capacity and the number in front is just a multiplier. It can be describing charge, average, discharge,constant,burst, Max, ect. rates so reading the text is necessary. In your particular case it is probably descriptive of the constant discharge rating of the pack. It would be 2.2 ah x 15 = 33 amps.

Ah... so I can charge at 1C, or cell capacity. IE if I have a 2000 mah (2 amp) pack I can charge at 2 amps?

Where did I come up with the 10% thing? Is this "safe" discharge rating if not stated?
And my 5 x 650 mah packs in parallel is 3250 mah so I can charge at 3.250 amps?? I hate to ask questions answered but I am questioning the 10% thing I guess.

Technically you could charge the five 650mah packs together in serial, not in parallel. That is, charge them as one 5s pack. The reason is that you want to balance each cell during charging and doing it in parallel will not allow the detection of voltage per cell.
So if you charger can charge 5 cell pack, then you could hook thm in serial and charge them together. You need some way to connect them in serial and add connections for balance.
The charging current in this case is based on the charging rate of the cell. If it is 1c, then 650ma is the charging current. If it is 2c, it is 1300ma.
The 15c or 20c is the discharging current. It is about the max. current you can pull from the battery.
