NICE!! I'm jealous. I hope you have better luck that some of the rest.
I would suggest to only use 2S batteries for now. Go bashing and go through about 10 battery packs and let us know how she runs.

Hi Wheelnut,
Thanks, in UK there are plenty in stock now
Yeap i've got 2 x 5200 30-40 and 2 x 5800 30-60, if they come back empty it'll be the life certificate for XS, but ... wait and smell

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Got XS #2 today and ran a few 2s 25c packs through it. ESC is just hot enough not to be able to keep your finger on it more than a few seconds but motor is way too hot to touch (same with XS #1). Battery is dead in temp gauge but I'll post actual temps tomorrow when I run her.
I am going to keep running #2 until it dies and use the first for spares.
From what I can tell the esc definitely works better on 2s and the truck is fast enough for me. I did adjust the punch control on the esc with the castle link and those nasty back flips are tamed down but now the motor seems to cog more when first starting so I plan to do some more experimenting with settings and hope the option spur gear shows up soon so I can run a smaller pinion.
After a lousy start with the XS's I am starting to like it more and more.
Tomorrow its out to the dirt field and some serious abuse! might as well finish trashing the stock body!
OOPS almost forgot, checked with HPI and the only reason they recommend 25c or better is so the battery can handle the amp draw, my 3s 20c pack never got hot (just warm).

maybe third wave? I got mine last Thursday from tower and I ordered it about 3 weeks after the first posts of people receiving theirs and my esc has never gotten hot only warm to the touch.
Just saying.

I placed my order a couple days ago. Tower site still says "Late Sept.", and tomorrow is the last day of the month and still no ship notification. Maybe they already went through another batch and I have to wait for another?
Just found this if anybody is interested:

I would never order one of these from Ebay. I like to be able to go right back to the LHS where I bought it and say "FIX IT!!!"
I'm very worried about the motor and esc getting so hot and burning up. EVEN ON 2S. That's ridiculous!!!!!!!

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Got my XS Wednesday and thus far no big issues with ESC/motor- only concern is on 2s the motor and esc do get a little warm- motor-145/150 esc 125 after 10 minutes of sprinting around on asphalt and dirt. We'll see how it goes and I'll keep you up to date. One concern I do have and wonder if any one else has it is the loose steering. The steering linkage is very sloppy and the wheels move side to side about 1/2" or more without the servo arm moving? I've dabbled in to the problem but dont see anything concrete to attribute the problem to. Any suggestions?
