Default CM6 Insert Bushing

I was running my 17CC gas engine at about 1500 RPM when the plug blew out. Do they make a insert bushing like they do for a 14MMm plug. Any help would be appreciated.

The engine is a 17CC sv gas engine. The spark plug blew out. The threads on the head are striped. I checked with the local auto parts stores but they don't have a insert small enough. I am thinking that if I coulgd get the head welded I might be able to drill the head & retap it.

A helicoil insert should fix your problem. Jodyinstalled a helicoil insertona G20 head for my good friend KarolH sometime ago. Engine runs like a dream ever since we got it back. Have a look at the attached video to understand the process of installing the helicoil insert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFYa6sjhh_E

Looked up the heli-coil web-site. I have to know the thread size of the plug. Paragon & others say it would be cheaper to replace the head. Am trying to get a price for it.

From a search results thread:

"Clarence Lee can fix the threads with a heli-coil for about $20. His address is is the classifieds of Model Aviation. You only need to send the head to him. His business is "Lee Custom Engines" 1-818-352-3766."

Good luck.

Sincerely, Richard

If it's a CM-6 plug, the thread is M10 x 1.0

You can also get an insert at RCextremepower.com

Check out the insert on the ignition page below.
You'll also need a 14mm tap and the right drill bit.

Called Clarence Lee in Ca. Sent him the head. He will install the heli-coil for $15.00 plus ship it back. If I went with the adapter in RCX

I would have to get a drill bit a 14MM tap plus the adapter. I think sending it out to have him do it was the safest & cheapest way.
