I called Aeroworks today to inquire about a replacement canopy for my 50cc Extra 260. My daughter had cracked it about a year ago so I figured I should get a replacement before they ever might become unavailable. The Aeroworks rep was very freindly and got my order squared away all the while holding a conversation with me about the area I live in and how nice it can be here. Upon finishing up He asked, "Is there anything else I can do for you?"... Then it happened. I said, "I've been looking at the 50cc Ultimate Biplane for a while now and sure would love to have one. What kind of deal can you give me on it." Half joking, not really expecting much. In a round about whay he asked what I would like. I responded, "If you can wave the shipping ($99.95) go ahead and add it to my order." He said he would ask. The phone was silent for about 30 seconds. When he came back on the line he informed me that they were going to have just a sale next month anyway and his boss had no problem extending it to me now if I was ready to pull the trigger on it. You know, the get him before he changes his mind routine or worse, before his wife finds out and says H377 no! So, I now have a shiney new 50cc Ultimate on the way. I told the wife about it and all I heard was something about diamonds[&o]

Aha! The old "just ordering a canopy" ploy, eh? Probably fate or karma or something. Whatever will be will be. Good on you for thinking the right thing at the right time. Good looking plane!

its nice of your wife to think your planes are so boring that they need a few diamonds to bling them up but insuring them might be a problem

Guess there's no room for "Just kidding." tuck that tail in behind and run off. Yeah, many have fallen victim and many toys bought this way, esp if the saleswoman is a super hotty. Man up, and pay up.

This works both ways though...money magically appears in our budget when she
gets the urge for the latest sewing machine acc. or electronic gadget that will
manage her time more efficiently so she can stay on top of her Facebook updates.
Then it's, 'you should get that new engine you were talking about for your toy airplane.'
Knowing that you shouldn't get either, you go along with the scheme anyway
because you don't want to miss the opportunity... hey look how much I saved
by buying an extra... gotta love it.

I've been married for 19 years so one thing I did learn is that If I hide it, she will be very angry. Increadable hulk angy. I just got a promotion so my first paycheck and subsequent back pay reflecting that promotion will cover the cost of the ARF. I told her it was my promotion pressent. So, naturaly she wants hers now.

I've got it easy. With all of the products that are sent to me for reviews, when I buy something I just say, "They sent it to me for a review"

Women don't know planes, they know colors. Keep all your planes red and white and she'll think its one of the in stock items. Never, never leave empty boxes in your shop, always use the neighors trash can.

I'm the head of my household so when I want to buy a new plane I'm assertive so she knows I'm serious and that helps. I tell her, " I'm going to the hobby shop to buy a new model................IF that's okay with you?"

Or as I like to say it, "I'm the boss in my house... and I have my wife's permission to say so!"

I think we're all going to hell for the amount of lies we've made about buying planes. My usual one is "I just sold one on Ebay, so I'm just swapping one for the other" Pffft!

I sent mine 3 pictures of planes I was deciding between. 2 of them from AW. She resonded right away and said she liked the third one. When I ask why she said." cause that one does not have a woman in the picture with it".

Got it, thanks. Remember we were just talking about this in the thread about the Goldwing Ultimate... I apreciate the tip and will definately over do the reinforcement as I intend to power my AW Ultimate with a DA-60
