RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I've done plenty of positive and negative flicking with the UF. Negative is very good. Rotation, at acceptable entry speeds, is high and stopping the flick is very easy. Getting a clean 1 turn neg flick on an up, or down line is straight forward. Positive flicking isn't as good as negative. The jet tends to 'load up' too much and the rotation is buried a bit. Doing an avalanche (1 postive flick at the crest of a loop) is quite effective. It also does that great whistling noise! I have spun at the jet but don't get anything from it as a manouver.
This is all done with the stock CoG position.
Cheers,
Rob

@bigbri the UF will snap pretty well .. not a blur fast not a lighting fast blur of a snap, but it will snap nicely. recovery is effortless. Nose drops out on its own ... similar with spins , but im not on the tail heavy side ( saying that after doing a "helicopter" landing on a tail heavy jet stuck in a spin once )
@AFTERBURNER1 +1 IM 100% on that ... hands down the toughest Jet .. will take a beating of ridiculous Gs without even a wing bending [8D]
here's some video of mine .. I wish i had better footage for it, but everyone was sucking at the camcorder , lol ..

Yes, a guy did it and said he would post a You Tube Video. I'll remind him, he's in the UK Military and struggles with time.

Sorry for the delay, video of Dave's P80SE powered Ultra Flash flying at the JMA Westonzoyland meeting in August. A bit distant at times, did not zoom in too much as it was quite easy to lose sight of it.

One of the guys had a rabbit in his, honestly that is probably a better combo than the bigger motors. A 22-25# turbin would be the perfect set up on this plane.

Thanks for the Video Dave and Jamie, Dave one question, what would you say was your throttle setting (average) for the flight? for example when you did the 4point rolls around the first part of the video. or when you did the long right to left knife edge?
Thanks Dave I really appreciate it !

From takeoff it was full power for the first two passes, so I guess that included the 4 point (in the office at this time and screen is small) The knife edge pass wasn't full power, I was just off the top. I am very on/off the power on all my models, I get more flight time than many because I don't have it "nailed" when it does not need to be. That flight could have been a minute more with the fuel I used/had left. This was only flight three on the P-80SE model and the 120SX model I was flying the same day has a lot more acceleration from the slow fly-by, but the P80SE, after that first 1 1/2 minute gaining energy and burning some fuel weight, moves along just fine. I did the rolling loop to show that it has enough for that "power hungry" manoeuvre and towards the end there was a long vertical roll that Jamie just caught, it ends up plenty high enough. From my experience with the P-100RX in the Bobcat, I expect a P-100RX UF to be quicker than this P-80SE version, but it has more than enough power for the sort of people who might be considering this powerunit. It's a nice combo for a sports jet that won't get ahead of anyone capable of turbine flight.

Finally had time and awesome weather to fly my UF- shes a winner. 4 good flights. C of G i flew at was 235mm aft of L.E. Factory suggestions re aileron throws and down elev were too excessive. Only run 15-18mm flap for T/O and 60mm for Landing. perfect, 22lbs thrust ( Wren 100 K pro). weight is 9kg dry. flight times are around 8.5 mins running stock conformal tank plus Intairco Hopper only. very slippery, she moves around with a great turn of speed.
Not sure how to add pics, but i have a customised checkers scheme. Looks the business!!

Groan! I had to wait 4 months for my engine, and when it did come I had to cancel the maiden when the fuel solenoid died, so I feel your pain!
What LG are you using that takes so long?
You could try chuck launching it

Hello friends!
Dave then Jet Cat turbine is best suited for this model to drive both a correct CG. Will the new P-100RX of 1080kg. or P-120SX weight of 1300 kg?
I personally like that faster is better but I also worry that too fast between the hours of landing and even more so on a track like ours paved only 150 meters!
What is the perfect balance of the aircraft for Jet Cat?
Greetings.

Its the CARF one, meaning Behotec mechanics, Airpower struts and Intairco wheels and brakes.
No matter otherwise, but the winter is soon here and will stay for 6-8 months.
TP.
