I've decided after finishing mine with the GMS .76 that I want to go electric to save the covering and I'm tired of nitro anyway...So I have to ask (And I will re-read the entire thread as well), what should I run for motor/ESC/batt to make mine have a power to weight ratio for 3D hovering and good vertical?

Anyone need a never run GMS .76?

Would this be a decent replacement for the E-flight 60 or 90 series motor? Less $$$ for sure!

Took a pic after my lunchtime maiden!

Put a DLE-20 in it. A SUPERB match. Reall great thrust and response.

Didn't have enough rudder authority to do some higher end KE stuff so will increase the throw an skootch the CG back a smidge.

I put 3 servos in the tail thinking the CG would be forward w/a gasser...mistake..should used pull/pull on the rudder and the battery would be in a better locale. Had to put in front of the firewall to get the proper CG. Will probably change it to pull/pull to see if there's much difference a a later time.

Mods for the DLE-20:
drilled new axle holes about a 1/4" lower to get better prop clearance and used 3" tires. - no problems encountered (or expected) swinging a 16x8 prop

put ply on each side and top of the engine box to give it more support.

that's all that was needed..

cheers,
Mike

That is Great!... Please take some pictures with the cowl off so I can see what you did as I currently have a 90 2stroke in it and think it would be better to have the DLE 20.

Flying with the 91 two stroke is a lot of fun, unlimited vertical but hoering is hard with smaller prop and pull out is unimpressive.... so I think you made the right choice with the gasser.

by the way, hobby king has some carbon fiber gear for 40 bucks that fits pretty well, and is much taller. It really fits the plane much better. If you like I'll try to take some pics later tongiht, maybe get the part number too.

Pictures? OK

the 1st pic shows the interior layout
the next 2 are where the servos are for the tail feathers
next is the new hole for the wheel axle
a pic of the battery placement used for the maiden and how I widened/lengthened the motor mount area. Also added ply to both sides and top of the motor box to stiffen it
the bottom where I put the ignition. You might also notice the hose clamp I use on the sprak plug cap
Last pic is the new battery location (haven't flown it this way yet). Only moved the CG about 1/8" (I like 'em really aft). It was near neutral w/the original battery location.

cheers,
Mike

I have no idea what the weight is..I don't weigh planes anymore but "feels" about the same as the Aeroworks 60-90 Extra 300, not heavy for sure.

I just noticed that nitroplanes has the red one back in stock for $125...

I'm still flying mine, its actually a pretty good plane. running an asp .91 two stroke, and its fast, no flutter, an a lot of fun.

Hi!
I'm Richie from France. I read the whole thread and realized that I had the same aircraft but having a different name "Extra 330-S"!!
I bought this plane 6 years ago and unfortunately I crashed it after one year of use (probably radio interferences). This aircraft was flying perfectly and I was very sad at the moment. I kept the parts that were still in "correct condition" and decided to rebuild it later on.
Today is the time to rebuild it!
But as you can see some stuff are missing! And I may need your help if any.
Are your Extras 330 L still in operation?
Here you have some pics before the crash:

and after:

Thank you very much for your attention.
Bye.
Richie.

Hi Izzy!
55 AX engine on a Nitro Model Extra 330L-90-63" seems to be a little bit short for 3D, no?

Nice arrow tiger! I had an arrow tiger as well, very nervous aircraft, no? Did you like this airfcraft?
Your tom seems to be seriously injuried!!! Isn't it?
Bye
Richie.

hey guys, I'm new to this group and I know it has been a very long time since the last comment was made here. I had the extra 330 kit by nitro models lying around for a very long time I finally decided to build it and upon opening the box I realised it was missing an instruction manual. Long story short would anyone of you be kind enough to post pictures of the instruction manual here or send me a link the web version if it exists? thanks in advance
