Is anyone building an Avonds F15? I am seriously considering getting one. I plan to get the ARF version and use a P140RX. Just wanted to see some build pictures and see what I am getting into.
thanks in advance.

Get it! I have had one for years and it is a great flying jet. As all PA jets they are a pleasure to build, the detail is immaculate and the fly great. I have a Super Eagle in mine and it is very scale like. The Cheeta would be perfect as it has a little more thrust and weighs less. Mine weighs about 26#. PA is excellent in his support after you buy the kit. The only thing I would change is to replace the UP valves with an electronic valve which makes your gear door operation a little better.

Yeah, What Tom said. I have one that is almost 15 years old, used to ducted fan and now turbinized!! Flies like a dream and lands so nicely. Philip Avonds is always available and extremely helpful. Can't go wrong with this one.
Good luck!

Love, love, love mine ... 2nd hand rtf for £1700 ... have now had well over 80 flights or so and it is a fantastic Jet .... easy, easy, easy and looks great in the air ...
If I dont have it, I would buy one new for sure and build it.

Hi Scott, a bit different to the Grippen eh? I have had 2 swapped one and still fly the second one.
Ragz, I don't know about the arf versions but the kits are a good 20% lighter than the Chiese F15s. One of the easiest and best scale jets ever designed, you wont regret the decision. I still remember Philip bringing his first D/F model to the UK. 2 K+ B 7.5 cc d/f engines Music!! Ron.

Nothing is complicated on a PA build. Very well engineered, parts fit perfectly, instructions very well written and documented. I have some build pix on my other computer and will look to see if any would be of use. Mostly show big picture stuff. On the ARF all the formers are in. The hardest part is the speedbrake and canopy. He will do the gear doors or you can do it yourself which is not difficult just time consuming.

I love my Avonds F-15, it was one of the early kits that was beefed up to be used with a turbine. I fly it with a jet central super eagle. Has taught me so much about flying turbines!

I too love the Avonds F15, well I do own four of them at the moment, one due to be sold this weekend, which was a D/F model that I stripped out ready to take a turbine. I have another three turbine versions, one that was Azza Stephens old one, that I bought with the nose broken off for spares but may just repair it and sell it.
looking forward to getting one airborne, my mate Ron Burnett in Scotland still has, and fly's his 13 year old one, and she looks the nuts!
