from what I've seen, JR is calling it "dual mode spread spectrum" - a combination of DSSS and FHSS.

We ought to take this discussion of JR/Spektrum 2.4GHz methods / performance / etc to a different thread. This one was supposed to be info on JR radios from days past, not technical discussions of spread spectrum.

Please read post #73.

Looked to me like this thread had run its course.

It's unfortunate to have an interesting thread dragged off-topic by people who can't control their urges.  It's equally unfortunate that moderators are either unwilling or unable to split the off-topic discussion into a separate thread.

Yes MikeL

It is unfortunate but it is very common as responses bring up indirectly related subjects (topics).

It is not practical to have a tree without branches ( Hee Hee ___ LOL)

I just read this thread again from the beginning. I could see where the branching initiated.

I am all in favor of getting back to the initial topic.

In post #73 I wrote
Perhaps we coould read the latest results ? ? ?

That was an attempt to bring back the original topic.

Let us hope we get an update soon.

We have to consider that the thread originator has limited time and we should be patient.

Also the moderators have limited time and cannot humanly read every post in the forum to take such action as you described.

On_your_six - thanks for your opinion. It's not for you! That's cool. But there are many of us who DO get it! We like to collect, or provide history, info to those who are interested or for the fun of it.....and usually they provide a good return on your money invested. BTW, A fox 59 long stroke engine now brings a purchase price of $500! mine originally cost $47.99

Thanks for an excellent thread rcflyertim and I fully concur please don,t let those who would attempt to sidetrack it with endless and pointless ford/chevy arguments dampen your enthusiasm.

One model that seems to have been left out on your latest list is the XF622. Not sure but holding an August 94 issue of Scale RC modeler in hand and an artical on it seems to indicate that mid 94 was the introduction.

OK...haven't updated in a while.

Keys to this thread......#1 I only want info of models and years of production.
#2 I would like any pics or PDF's of manuals of JR radios so that I can collect the info and have it avaliable for anyone to use

Here is the latest collection of JR radios. Once I have production dates for each I will list them in chronological order. Please give dates and please pass along any manuals you have. Thanks again for eveyones help. I think we are very close to capturing all models made in the USA and some foreign countries as well.

I don't see a model number on this transmitter. I puchased it in 1981 and it served me well.

I have about the same JR (Circus) on post # 46....2nd page. It has knobs on top...a Heil version....also works for Airplanes. Capt,n PS Good radio!

I had a PCM 9 in the mid 80's. Circus Hobbies imported it. My friend Bill Cunningham also had one. All the mixing and adjustments were done with pots and dip switches on the back of the transmitter.

I hope this post is on topic. In the 70's (don't remember the exact year) I was sent what I was told by a Japanese export agent, was the first JR radio in the US. It was sent to me to test to decide if I (Royal Electronics Corp) wanted to be the exclusive importer of the JR radio line.
I could see the hand writing on the wall that we (all US producers) could not compete with Japanese production in the coming years. I test flew the radio for several months and decided it met our requirements and gave a verbal commitment to the export agent. A few weeks later I was informed that the exclusive went to Circus Hobbies. I have never found out the details of what happened.
I thought I still had the test radio but could not find it right now. I may have sent it to the Radio Control Museum in Cleveland,OH. when I sent my collection of Royal radios. If I find the radio I will post a picture.

Trying to date the 8103. I bought my 8103 with the 3+1 trim( throttle went back to a slider type) in Spring of 1998, and it was the second release. The initial release had all digital trims and was not offered for long at all before the change.
