I had a Something Extra as my second plane and loved it. It is a great flying plane, but like other have said it can be a handful if you have the throws turned up.

Unfortunatly mine no longer exists, it decided it need to meet the ground! But i am looking for another one, would really like to build one from a kit.

Wine Country - is that a Dubro composite Dural landing gear? Size .61 I think? What did you do for the rear support?

Yep-it's Dubro gear. I used the same thing in the rear. I put a 1/4 inch block inside the fuse to support the rear. Works great.

Looks like you're using a flying wire (2-56 rod set up the same as the tail) on the front. Same on the rear?

Flyin wire on the tailyes. 2-56. Same Dubro gear to support the back of the floats as in the front. Hope this clears it up.

AHH then you may get a kick out of this fellows SSE, I have been mentoring him for a while now. His commute is seven miles with a portion of that along Old Route 66

Thanks for coming back with your outcome, so many just leave the threads hanging.

The GP Dazzler as is the Tower Uproar are both very similar airplanes and both will perform something like the SSE and it should serve you well.

Ad me to the list of SSE admirers. I have two one bought used back in 08 and the other was wreck that a club member didn't want to fool with.

It is a great plane with very basic construction making it very easy to repair / rebuild and I can vouch for that as I have rebuilt my first one about 5 times, not the planes fault just my dumb thumb. Currently am rebuilding the one I got from the club member, it's crash was caused by a radio failure [REALLY not me this time].

At altitude I'm down 25% on power. An OS 46 AX with a 11x5 or 12.25 x 3.75 APC works great.
