Great idea! I'm in on whatever you guys come up with.

I have not flown this year, but really appreciate the upgrades to the field & shelter that you guys have completed. I was at the field the other day enjoying a nice visit. Everything looks great! Thanks guys!

Project * * Project * * Project

I am hoping for getting some help with a club project. We would like to put some concrete pavers down on the floor inside the club house. If you would like to contribute next time you are at Home Depot, please pick up 5 or 10 of these units. 5 of them cost $21.10 The original idea was to create handicap access with the pavers to include a parking space and a walkway to the flight boxes... but that is a bit beyond us right now. ... When/if we move, it will be a matter of picking up the pavers and taking them with us. You can't do that with a concrete slab.

[link=http://www.homedepot.com/Outdoors-Garden-Center-Landscape-Supplies-Pavers-Step-Stones/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbx4b/R-202021844/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053]Home Depot Paver Link[/link]

I hope you will consider contributing. We will get some sand and put them down flush as time allows.

Hope you enjoy the winterizing of the clubhouse that Gary and I got done yesterday... we could use about 25 2x4s 8 ft long and about 6 sheets of 5/8 plywood to finish the job. Our plan is to finish putting up the glass windows all around except at the flight box where we would like to install a 3'x7' door.

So this is one of the reasons not much flying over the last year or so. He's doing Ice Hockey and loves it. Skating/hockey many days out of t he week! Been playing almost 2 years now. Being there is a new hobby. Lots of photography now.

Sorry Dave but I can't engrave bricks... to sandy/gritty and that would need
water like a wet saw.

The grit alone would destroy the machine in short order.

Question to those that have a Multiplex Easy Star Brushless setup or have some knowledge about it...

I am lookling to get the Multiplex Easy Star Kit and wanted to install a brushless power setup. Is anyone at the field using this type of set up or has seen one?
If so, please share info on speed controller, prop, motor.
I was looking for a motor that would plug right into the existing mount.

If you care to donate for the clubhouse floor and don't want to pickup and deliver the stones, donate the cash to me (Bill). I will gather the donations and arrange for a delivery from Home Depot...

Thanks to Mark Jusino(5), Cecil McIntyre(10), Jet (5), Anthony (5) and Sam(5) for contributions so far. I have donated 10 stones and plan to do more.

Thanks to Gary and his friend for all the 8x8 pavers delivered.

Yeah Bill. I was there when the pavers were deleivered. Gary has some good ideas on how to use them and the overall shelter project. Regarding the Paver project in the shelter you are leading... Have you considered putting an article in the club newsletter to help spread the word? Maybe present it at a club meeting? Maybe you did already...

Also see if Home Depot will donate a portion of the blocks to the club. Let them know that we are a local organization and we host several events for the community. Mention that FSA is involed in many charitable/goodwill causes like:
1. Supporting wounded warriors/vets from the US Military
2. Hosted boys and girls club events
3. Hosted the MEDS event
4. Provide volunteer opportunities for boy scouts during our air show
5. Provided UMD engineering students a place to test their class projects
6. Teach people about aviation and how to fly for free.

So Home Depot's contribution will not only help us beautify our clubhouse, but will make it more appealing when we sponsor events and do goodwill. Not to mention, the pavers will make the shelter more easily accessible for wheelchairs and people with walking problems. Places like Home Depot and Lowes are often willing to support local organizations doing good in the community. They were big supporters of two non-profits I was a part of.

Just my thoughts and 2cents. Hope that helps.

Thanks!
I have a Dynam Hawksky which is like the Easy Star.
The Hawksky is already brushless.
I still have all the original servos in the unit but recently upgraded the motor. The original motor/esc/prop lasted me over 20 hours of flight before I upgraded it.
Grasyon has a PnP (Receiver ready) version
http://www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/...wk-p-1336.html
for only $20 more you get a battery, Tx, Rx and small charger
http://www.graysonhobby.com/catalog/...hz-p-1036.html

I have been using this plane for Rx testing as well as just relaxing. It's not a great aerobatic plane but it will loop and roll just fine. Like the EasyStar, you should come up with a way of better securing the wings. I leave my wings on all the time and have gorrilla tape on top and bottom. I had wings fall off before and dropped the throttle to have no damage. I can get 15 minutes or more on a 2200mAh pack flying half throttle.

Originally I got it from Nitroplanes.com but they are out of stock. Grayson has stock

Thanks Dave for the info. I'll check that out. I'm looking at something for the kid so that he can start learning. I initially mentioned the easy star because its EASY and virtually indestructible. I'll look at the Dynam Hawksky too.

By the way. Here is the link to the LA Kings Practice pictures.

Sam,
I used a stock Trex 450 brush-less motor and a 6" prop on a 2 cell A123.
I used a cheap 15 amp Trunigy speed controller after I tested the load
with an eagle tree.

Runs great and it fit into the stock motor location.

Going to sell a few kits for the TREX 600.

Name of the kits will be "K-Frame".

The first 5 kits are almost finished.... Still have to clean up the aluminum parts
a bit.

Progress:

Gary and I purchased 25 more paver stones this morning with the donated money and delivered them to the field. 40 stones are now on the site. We received contributions this morning from NASA Bill (10), Dave Wilson (5), and Jim Mcnitt(5)... That leaves us 12 stones short from doing the first 8'x16' bay. We will install from the white swing doors to the rolling barn door first.

I stopped and shopped for sand, we can get all the sand we need for about $200(whole bldg), we are discussing labor...we would love to have some landscape workers knock it out. I have an offer from Cecil for $100 toward labor, and I will match that.

Thanks for all the support... we will just keep trudging along and do what we can when we can.

I decided to do it on a day Cecil was not there... no more mooning the camera... I got a pretty good pano today... I found a better piece of software for doing this and the results are better right off the bat.

PROGRESS OF THE FLOOR:
We got a donation from Dave today and George was donated... he really did not have a choice, it was pretty funny. We are still a couple of stones short of the first section...
