Something new from Hanger 9
Saw this on Horizon's site today....
http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=HAN4170
I personally would love a re-release of the 90 size Showtime!

I wonder if its going to be another sub 60'' wing span model which seems to be the norm for new models coming out.

This looks like the replacement for the Funtana 50. It was on back order for quite some time, now I did not see it on Horizons site. I see they have a new size motor for it, a Power 52, should be nice for the electric folks.

I like the look, but "rant" $250 for a .46 size ARF? That's usually their 60 size Warbird pricing. I'd rather put that money toward a bigger BH or ESM airframe. Heck my CMP Katana 72" gasser is only $180.

I'm with you, I don't think I'll by another CMP. I had two and both were really sub par. I had the 1.40 size Extra and the Yak54 .50 size.

RE: Something new from Hanger 9
My CMP Katana is all balsa, frame and wing are built extremely strong for an ARF (after bombing the field with one my wheels[X(], it survived a one wheel landing without damaging the fuse). For the $$ it flys very well using an SPE-40. Flys well with a DLE-30 also (see ARF section). Negatives are: it's heavy 13.5# without gas, covering is over the top and painted (I think?), needs better hardware, landing gear, and tail wheel (too weak for the weight). Other than that it's great! It really floats for a heavy airframe, and does mild 3D pretty damn good (tumbles, snaps, hovers, flat spins, etc) and typical pattern stuff great. I'd buy another if I was on a budget, is there other 9# models with the same 72" Wingspan that are better....yes, but they cost $350-450, not $179. To each his own, but that makes these attractive at a nice price point for someone's first venture into gas.

My biggest problem with both CMP planes was the lack of adhesive. I went through both planes and glued every thing. Both planes flew well but really had more than a few things I did not like.

RE: Something new from Hanger 9
This plane has me interested but I’m concerned about the weight. At an advertised 6.6-7.5 lbs this Katana is going to weigh as much (or even a bit more) as my Aero-Works Extra 300 60-90 which was a bit of a dog with only a Saito 82. I switched to a DLE 20 and it is a bit over powered but that’s why I have a throttle. I will be very interested to hear the initial flight reports on a Saito 82.

Great, another sport plane. That excites me much as a new P-51 ARF hitting the market.
