Default RE: Large electric warbirds 60 size plus,,,lets see em

Hey guys,
Hoping you can advise me on choosing next warbird project. Looking to add to my Top Flite 60 size P-47 and P-51 ARFs. Both were relatively easy to convert to electric with "hidden hatch" ready to be cut out from the fuse. I used Power 90 running on 8S on both and love em.

I would like to find very scale 60 size warbird ARF that either comes with hatch for batteries or easy to modify. Not too particular about model ( other than not thunderbolt or mustang). Considered new TF corsair but called them and told that no hidden hatch built into fuse anymore. The hangar 9 corsair doesn't come with flaps and doesn't seem as scale. Please advise - would love to tackle spitfire, warhawk, etc I could find the right ARF. Help!

Thanks, the hatch is on the bottom right behind the air scoop. The batteries are in there standing vertical right behind the firewall and I opened up the air scoop so it get all the cooling air it need in there as that is where I placed the ESC also. The mod was really easy and straight forward. Flying weight comes in at 16 lbs, and due to the placement of the batteries I got away without having to add any ballast for proper CG. Takeoffs at just over 1/2 throttle.

I'm getting really tired of messing with glow and glow messing with my planes. I have been flying my 60 sized TF mustang with an OS 91FS, so what would be a good match to maintain about the same power level? Would the e-flite power 60 with a 6S 5000 lipo give me about the same flight experience? I'm either going to go bigger 70" Wingspan and go for 30cc gas or staying 60 sized and going electric, just sick of glow hassle.

I think the power 60 is perfect. Ihave the same plane with power 90 on 8s and quite frankly, its way overpowered.

You'll won't regret the switch to electric. Ican hang with glow guys all day with no mess , engine fiddling , etc.

Some wonderful planes in here! Just thought I'd pop in and say hello since I love big warbirds and my club's flying field has recently gone electric only. I will be converting my Kyosho Spitfire 90 in the near future from 4 stroke.

Dean RCU, Beautiful P-39!!! One of my favorites. Here's mine so far.

H-9 spitfire & P-40. And an ASM F7F tigercat. All are powered with E-Flite power 60 motors, 80 amp CC ESCs and run on 6s 5000mah batts. The tigercat X 2 of course.

Heres a 1/4 scale SE-5 conversion. Bought it last year at Perry, had a FUJI 38 or something in it. I removed the nasy gas motor, fuel tank, etc. Installed a Takon 160, 20 inch prop, CC 80 Amp HV ESC and running off of two 5,000 mA % cellt batteries in series for 10 cells total. This plane ready to fly with Batteries installed weighs 25 npounds. Its a very stable flyer and has plenty of power. Its seen in this video flying with another gas to electric conversion, a 1/4 scale DR-1. I will never go back to glow or gas!

This one is a 1/4 scale Sopwith Triplane built and last flown in 1968. It sat as a static display for 45 years until I purchased it and installed a power 160. It made its first flight recently, here are a couple pictures and a video of it taking to the air for the first time in 45 years. I admit, I was cringing the whole flight but it did great!

I will post the video when I find it

And my favorite gas to Glow conversion. My P-6E Hawk had a Zenoah G-38 in it, I converted it using a power 160 and 10 cells turning a Meinz 3 blade prop and the performance is awesome!

Sopwith Pup 1/3 scale from a kit by JW Modellbau. Hacker A80-8, 14S3P A123 battery pack and 26 x 10 prop. Onboard sound of engine and machine gun with muzzle flash by Benedini sound. Flies superbly!
