Ok...this will be my last vid (unless someone posts a faster speed) I was having some trouble getting the body clips on the car because it was dark.So I don't actually get the wheels on the ground untill the 2:00 mark. this would normally get edited out but to keep the run legit I had to keep the 2 minutes in there!LOL!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfEDEV8EieA

Standings

1st: 55.5MPH - yakfish

2nd: 53.6MPH - jg2009

3rd: 49.4MPH - FloridaDude
im pretty shure i beat u by about 4mph.
We don't ask for much. Just proof![8D] Lets see it!

I finally found a place to run my Rustler. I am off work all next week and should be able to get out and see what kind of top speed I can reach. The top speed estimator says around 63mph, but of course that is not real world. I am also a little worried about burning up my motor with the gearing, but that is the way it goes if it happens.

Anyone used a hot wheels radar gun? I have heard they are pretty accurate. I still want to try this with my brushless evader EXT2. Not that i think i could win, but just as something to have some fun with for a while. The hot wheels radar gun being fairly cheap is about the only way id have to check the speed. Problem is, it would normally just be me out there. hmmm

Read page 2 (Edit, sorry, more like page 4/5, hard for me to tell due to many deleted posts) of this thread or thereabouts. There was a short debate about it, where I said some disparaging things about them, but eventually conceded they probably weren't that bad and we allowed an entry that used one.

I see that now. Should have looked earlier, but i forgot about this thread kind of and then i was just reading the last page at work today and didnt have time to skim through it all.

Are there any other cheap devices that read speed and are accurate?

I dont have a smart phone, so no way for me to do it there. My wife does, but she'd kill me if she knew i had it strapped to an r/c truck Like I said, probably wouldnt be anywhere around the 50mph mark, but might be fun for me to see just what it would do and post some video[8D]

I use a Garmin Forerunner 301 GPS(101, 201 models will work the same way and are the same size). It is smaller than a smart phone and very accurate. You should be able to find one used on ebay for $50 or less.

just did a quick search and found this.

I wrote out this big post about haters of the hotwheels gun and think its not accurate......
need to do research there self, dont rule it out if u know nothing about it, google is a great internet searching tool why do so many people have problems using it?????

come on guys who is going to spend over $50 just to record a result here????

I fully agree with that. Heck, I only have $70 in my brushless setup. Why spend that much just to see how fast it goes if you dont already have a way to measure it? If someone thought i was cheating with the hot wheels gun, then i'd just take 1mph off the reading so no one was worried i was cheating at this highly sophisticated event we have going here. lol
