T.O.M.,

You're always saying people here are too cheap to buy quality engines. Put your money where your mouth is and buy one. The 130 twin is a deal under $3500.00 for a production four stroke engine making 12hp at 8.5 pounds and less than 12.5'' wide. About the same weight and power as a 3W 110 two stroke with cannister mufflers.

Beats the heck out of the prototype engine posted here several years ago! How much was that one?
You could buy three ZDZ Super 160's for that price.
It would take three ZDZs to equal the sound presentation of this engine. Radials sound as good but are better looking.

I am not saying who is cheap....but I will say this. There is getting to be quite a few jets in west Michigan and I am sure that if somebody showed up at a air show with a 3 cyl Kolm engine in it and flew it...there would be more guys willing to buy one. Also with a jet engine is the price of fuel is higher than you think. You need to buy special turbine oil that is expensive. Of course they never tell you that....untill you bought one!!! For me, the Kolm 3 cyl sound "kicks butt" over the turbine. Turbines was interesting at first...now there is neater sounding gas engines!!! Best Regards Capt,n

I have been watching their site for news but there isn't much. They still haven't listed it as a production engine with their other engines.

I know Vogelsang Aeroscale is going to offer Kolm engines soon so maybe we don't have much longer to wait.

Meanwhile watching the [link=http://www.kolmengines.com/IL200-beim-Warbirdtreffen-in-Oberhausen.117.0.html]video[/link] of them zooming around with the IL200 in their highly modified P-51, Galloping Ghost, is about as good as it can possibly get in this hobby.

Sounds amazing, bet these will sell even at these prices.

Im sure in the future there will be multi cylinder four stroke gas engines produced all over the world for cheaper, and personally I will have to wait for that day as im only a hobby modeller and the price is out of my budget, but its nice to see and hear what the future holds foreven the more budget aware hobbyist like me.
But I bet its a quality item coming from austria itsa very organised part of the world that does not produce crap, I know i have been there many times and Mayrhofen ismy winter holiday most years, very efficient country compared to UK thats for sure, some of the best quality engineering comes from that part of europe.

As for having to adjust a fewset of tappets, big deal, I was setting tappets when I was 13 years old, anyone with a mild interest in learning how to can do it, if they cant be bothered to learn then they can paya model engine mechanic to do so and give them more business.

I wonder what a cd with the 200's sound would cost, maybe you'l get it for under 100$.
I think cost is really beginnig to be the inhibiting factor for most, after all it's just a hobby.
But if doing paid show's all over the country is your business, maybe (surely) this is what you need.

The in-line tripple 4-stroke sounds very nice. The coolest engine I've ever heard was an in-line tripple 2-stroke. That was at Joe Nall and I think is was in a P-51. Hearing that thing warm up was like listening to a Ferrari. If I had the means and ability I would build an in-line four cylinder 2-stroke. If you've been on the water and heard a V8 Evinrude or Mercury 2-stroke outboard, that is also a sweet sound.

A three cylinder is out of phase with the prop just like a radial so they have the same rumbling sound.

The engine in the video they call a Moki is not made in the factory where the well know Moki 2 strokes like the 1.35 and the Moki 2.10. If anyone can prove different....go for it!!! Capt,n

Hello,

Moki:there exist two moki brand variations

one NOW also called MARK engines,

history: http://www.mr-rc.de/MARK_Motoren.htm there exist a cool inline one: http://www.mr-rc.de/M360B.htm

one that is making the glow and little gassers, http://www.mokiengine.com/

the FOURSTROKE fraction with the MOKI (RCS) radials, boxer, single 4stroke but also 2stroke gassers with high performance you can see them at: http://airworld.de/Englisch/Index.htm

the 50cc moki fourstroke gasser has much less power than 50cc KOLM or Vt42 engines

from airworld is also the big FW 190...

Greetings from Austria

OK, it's 2012... I'm ready for more info and news on the release date for the IL200.

I'm prepared to sell my Avenger and Tigercat to fit one of these engines into my newest P-51 project!

I could watch (i.e. listen to) that Galloping Ghost video all day!!

Hi, Fred.

My mustang project starts with a Nick Ziroli P-51 plans, 1/4.6 scale, 98 inch wingspan.

I was expecting the cost for the IL200 to be $3800 to $4200 USD. But it was recently suggested that the projected price for the IL200 will be in the range of $5000-6000 USD. If true, then I must seriously reconsider my interest in this motor. Although very, very nice, it's much too expensive for me!

Not a reply ...just a question. Has anyone is the USA ordered the 3 cyl Kolm engine and placed it in a airplane? Down here in Florida there are some great fly-ins. I sure would love too see one of these great engines in real life. Thanks very much. Capt,n

Kolm Engines are available here http://www.team-aeroscale.com/kolm.html

Here are some nice new vids;
150cc 3Cylinder inline

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hswzQx3D0GA

with amazing sound the 100cc 2Cyl long edition Inline with 270° Crankshaft (sounds like a V, the housing is inline, but the Crank is V- designed )
Also available with 135cc
because of the long engine housing (distance to the Prop-Hubs), the engine- weight goes in direction to C.G. and the zylinders wont look out the cowls,
Also available with 135cc
