Hello Chester and all Advance 30/10 users,

just two questions to the Advance 30/10:

can you please give me the weight of the Advance with and without prop-adapter and could you please tell me if the rear support is necessary - according to plettenberg a front mount with 4-8 screws is enough.

thanks,
Christian

Hello Christian.

the Advance with Screw ,washer & prop-adapter is 583 gram
without 568
But without a firewall

I use a reinforcement ring to the nose
without rear support
3 Screws, the same as the extra 30 10 evo

But there is a little more noise when the uneven flow on the propeller such as a knife edge flight and snap rolls
could be that because there is no back support but it works for over 100 flights 30% of them F 11

I made more interesting experiments that put thes motor in a compar with the Q80 13 in propellers and rpm it uses

20x10.5 cf ULSAMER 7500 rpm 2500 watts
20x11 apc 7600rpm 2700 watts

Having just taken delivery of an Advance 30-10 I am aiming to mount it in an Extreme Flight Vanquish 2M. The space available if very tight and as the Vanquish is designed around a rear mounted outrunner I am having to think carefully about how best to mount the motor. I ordered and received the F3A Unlimited/Chad Northeast mounts - and they are excellent - but before I develop my own mounting scheme are there any others who have mounted an Advance 30-10 in a 2M Vanquish? If yes, could you be so kind as to explain what you did and perhaps post a photograph. I should say that I am very excited about this combination and hope that it will enable me to move to the next level in my F3A flying.

On a different subject about the motor.

What kind of maintenance work is needed for the motor? I have both a geared motor and an outer runner. The outer runner is pretty maintenance free.

None, just like an outrunner, but better

Thanks. That what I hoped :-)

I saw replacement bearings listed on Chris's f3a unlimited website for other Plettenberg motors. Just wonder if there is a need to replace the bearings for the Advance at some intervals.

I don't think you should need to worry about the bearings for a couple of years, unless you have a crash or other damage.

I personally have never replaced a bearing on any of my Pletty's, but our climate is rather cool and dry, which probably aids a lot to longevity.

Hi Guys
One word about the Setup with the Schulze fut 32-80 KA for the Pletti Advanced. The Dip switch 4 is for outrunners OFF. For Inrunners ON. The Advanced is a Inrunner. Is this correct.

This is the setting for a low rpm Plettenberg motor (both EVO and Advance)
http://www.electric-f3a.com/Shulze.htm

Switch 1 + 5 on for high rpm like Hacker C50

We have been running the Advance motor using the same settings as an outrunner and it works perfectly. Same settings at you would for the Plettenberg 30-10 EVO. This applies for Schulze, Castle, and YGE controllers.

Even though the Advance is an inrunner, it turns 1:1 like an outrunner and not many times faster like a geared inrunner.

As mentioned by Chris and Hans, same settings as you would use for the Evo (#1 ON, all others OFF).

Advance is an inrunner, but still has 20 poles, so timing etc. must be set to what is normally used for high pole outrunners.

Hi Chad,

Do you know if Schulze will start producing ESCs for F3A any time soon? With the 32.80KA out of production there are currently no ESCs available with a proportional break, as I know of. I have two Advance motors and only one 32.80KA. The other one went up in flames at the last WC.

Regards,
Henning

If you can accept a little extra weight the 32.115 L can be used.

Hi Henning,

I know they had planned to have a new 32.80 ready for last year that had some more features, but partway through the year the sliped the date to 2012. I have not asked recently if they still plan to produce those controllers or not. If I hear anything about it I will post it to RCU.

Two slightly different questions on the topic of mounting.

The prop shaft of the Advance, where the backplate of spinner and the prop are mounted, has a length of 11.33mm. At this length, I figure the prop can not go all the way to the shaft. Just like to know at what extent a portion of the prop can be off the tip of the shaft.

A consequence of short prop shaft is that the motor needs to be mounted very close to the nose, where the fuse may not be very strong. Like to know if one layer of CF cloth is sufficient. If so, how heavy should the CF cloth be?

Thanks.

No problem with the shaft being short, the Evo was the same. Not sure how far it goes into the prop, but if you use a TT spinner backplate, and a Falcon or APC prop, then you have the same as what I have used and I have never had a problem with that configuration.

Question 2: I have never added additional carbon to the nose where the advance mounts. The Xigris is carbon, maybe 3 oz (not 5.7 for sure), probably with light glass on each side. If you use the front and rear mounts it should not be an issue as you wont have the bending forces that you would if you front mount only.

The Chad designed mount by F3A Unlimited is now shipping with the "V2" back support which has slots for the mounting bolts to allow for easier thrust angle adjustments. This mod was made as a result of input from our customers. Thanks for helping us improve our product line!

Chris,
Who do you get the fiberglass PCB material cut by?
Routed or laser or water cut?
thanks,

Hi Dean,

It's 6061 aircraft alum that is anodized. Not sure what method is used to cut the parts though.

Hi Chris,

Another suggestion for a mod to the mounting plates - Ihave one of the slightly earlier ones. I could not use stand-offs to mount the front ring as they would have had to be at an angle to miss the rear support. If you designed the rear support to allow stand-offs to pass through would that work?

I really like that Chris! I elongated my holes to allow the adjustment.. Nice update to a great mount!
