RE: trim tabs on a Cat
If the boat is set-up right you don't need them on a cat, if you have problems with the attitude of the ride, check your CG before you drill any hole. Which hull are we talking about ?

RE: trim tabs on a Cat
If you need to ad trim tabs to a cat you ahve a setup and CG problem somewhere else. Sort that out first and the need for trim tabs would go away.

RE: trim tabs on a Cat
There are/were a few Cat's that came with them but they were just an attempt at a fix for a poor hull in the first place. I have seen them used on an OB tunnel boat, basically the same thing but they were used more to adjust the center of gravity, longer tabs pushed the CG further forward. It seemed to work better than adding weight to the nose.

i put a set on the top of the tunnel on a cat one time just to see what affect it would have bye directing the air flo, it was fun but i cant say i saw a difference, that said on the full size doug write boat and our model of it thats in the works the inside back of the tunnel has a hook in it so the air flow will push the bow down, kind of the same thought but molded into the boat not added on in the way of trim tabs, it does work awesome on the real boat.could be because its the whole tunnel and not just tabs.

RE: trim tabs on a Cat
I can't speak too much about tabs on an rc cat....but on a real offshore cat when it gets rough,YES a tunnel tab does make a difference! Didn't make a difference in the calm cause I usually raise the tunnel tab as high as it can go to get maximum trim. I have raced a 30' Spectre cat with tunnel tab and the hydraulic arm on the tab broke away from the actual tab itself and the boat ran nowhere as good in the choppy water. Tunnel tab allowed me to maintain a higher speed in rough water and the boat still be balanced right.

great feed back, to me it had to help, but i could not say i saw the difference from standing on the shore watching a 55 mph model, and even that is guessing, but i did feel it had to be making a difference
