I would love to join the brotherhood at the next available slot!

Here's my plane:

She's been in a couple of accidents, but the rebuild was done well.  I was not the original builder, but I did a full re-cover after the last rebuild (over 15 years ago).  It's got an O.S. 61SF (no pump) swinging a 12x6 prop.  Such a sweet motor on a sweet airplane.  I LOVE flying it!  It may not be all crazy and 3D, but who cares.  I always have a grin on my face while flying this plane!

(My wife and son are checking it out the day I resurrected it after being in storage for many, many years)

There's a woman and kid in those pictures? Nice US! I love a US with a white base - They just look so clean!

A slap on the hand for not adding retracts though

And my condolences... I'm married to a redhead too!

OH, and I'd love to have retracts.  Sadly, when this was built (over 16 years ago), the budget was tight.  I WILL build one someday with retracts.

Ironically, I have a CG chipmunk with retracts that looks amazing in the air.

Are there any OS 91 four-strokes powering any US's out there? What are the reviews; if any? I know this is a 2stroke nose but I am curious... thank you.

I built one with a 4-stroke once. And although I'm a 4-stroke junkie, I preferred the 2-stroke's performance.

All I hhave is a 91 left on the shelf... was the performance that much of a negative? 2 kids in college is killing my financial options.

Oh, don't get me wrong, a 91 Surpass will do great. Come to think of it, I had a very old 61 4-stroke on my first US40, so that could be why it was a dog. It was heavy and lacked power.

A trike with retracts? You do know that there's no room to fold up a nose gear, right?

Don't have one of it in flight...I'll get one next flying season. It's got an OPS 60 super with a pipe on it...so it's finicky in the cold and I've stored it for the winter.

Here's one I did on the 60, but they are identical except for size.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_68..._1/key_/tm.htm

I recommend going with retracts in a taildragger configuration, and moving the wheels outboard by one rib bay. I also like to add flaps. Many people will agree that these are two mods worth doing.

Aside from those, avoid any modifications, the plane is SO good as is that you don't want to mess it up!

Read this post by my buddy Ken. He came up for a visit a few years ago and flew my US40. Note what he said about the flaps:

I enjoyed the build and loved flying my Goldberg Chipmunk; OS 91 for power... an equal in fun-factor to the Goldberg Extra. I have HIGH hopes that the UltraSport will fly as well... thanks for the pictures of your chippy; very nicely built.
